I've only used coco. soil didn't really appeal to me. as far as autos I've never liked the idea of it just doing it's own thing. At least with photoperiod plants you choose when/if it goes into flower

It's purely up to preference honestly, I just don't see the point of growing autos unless for some reason you have to.

Just saying, you could get better/faster results if changed some stuff up. I grow in coco using RO water because you can 100% control the nutrients the plants get. I'm an LED grower so my opinion is skewed, but I wouldn't veg under a 600w HPS. I know some people do, but even a cheap led will veg the shit out of a plant. Or like mentioned, switching to CMH would veg much better than a HPS.

I'm on my 3rd grow and this was my plants @ 5 weeks from seed. Vegged under 3500K led's. Using much less than 600w

Bit of a difference!!

Do you led throughout your grow, what light do you have?

Yeah, I have a few custom ones. One runs 6 Vero29 COB led's @ 75w each -- 3500K spectrum, and the other two run 140 Philips Luxeon chips @ 140w per unit. So, using a total of 730w now. 2700K, 3000K, and 4000K mixed. Quality led's will cost you some $$$ though.

Just took this picture a few minutes ago. Plants are @ 6 weeks from seed now.

I'm impressed!
I can't afford to spend a lot on equipment and didn't expect much at all off my first but was pleasantly surprised so thought I'd give it a go again.
You're on another level though mate, looks like a proper set up there!

@MW7945 @Budmanx

I've adjusted ph, upped nutes slightly and they are not doing much better at all.
The only thing I've done different is use the hps from week 2 whereas before I used cfl up until week 6-7.
I'm starting to think I've exposed them to too much light too soon?
Gutted really and going to start again.

Is litmus paper sufficient to test ph or do I need a pen? Ph should be 6.5 yes? Thanks for both your input
6.3-6.5 in soil depending on strain and pheno but right round these readings you should be golden.....

did you harden them off when you went from cfl to hps? you may have scorched them a bit. Well depending on how close you hung your hps.... what was the lighting height when you switched lights?

Yeah I definitely think I had the hps too close to begin with. Probably had them about 3-4ft away.
Reckon there's much point in continuing with these!?

When you say harden you mean lower the hps an inch or so every few days Yeah?

Jungleboogie what the he'll happened. you are IMO over nuteing and over lighting
I know mate, I've really not done very well on this. Think I will pull the plug on them.
Start again taking on board what you all have said.

I'd drop that 600 s hps till week 4-6 depending on the hight you have to work with and use a t5 high output ( very forgiving fixture ) if you got the cash if not I understand. Cfls are not the bang for your buck and watch your nutes I use 1/4 recommend by manufacturer for autos 1/2 for photos. every other water. With 20 or 30 percent run off. I also very ph with in limits. Different but are takin up at different ph. Hope that helps. And as always that's just my opinion!

Awesome thanks for all you advice as I am a novice and obviously have alot to learn so any pointers are well received.

I've seen worse than those turn around and start going the right way. I know it's not popular with some growers, but I grow in soil with only very mild natural fertilizers. I have found that in soil less is usually more. I like a good cool mix (top soil, spagham moss or coco coir, perlite, earthworm castings, and some homemade compost) with a lot of drainage and I only use Alaska fish fertilizer once every couple of weeks for the early veg stage. When I feel they are going to start motoring I'll add some composted chicken manure. When I flip I'll add some Alaska Morbloom along with the regular fish fertz. Maybe I'm lucky but I haven't had problems with deficiencies and lockouts. Here's some stuff I'm just finishing outdoors grown like that.
