Don't listen to a guy with demon in his name.

Yeah the wheel as it is perfectly spins people in circles getting nowhere.

I have thought about expirimenting with flowering times - there may be an added benefit. I know some people like to keep their girls in the dark a few days before chopping.

For veg, I am pretty sure at this point that I can simply add a few hours with a weak light after sundown only one time every 2-3 nights and it will keep the plant vegging.

So you just supplement your outdoor plants with a weak source for a couple of hours every 2-3 nights and keep them vegging without hermies and other problems? That’s very nice. See experimenting is the way to understanding anything better, that’s my point exactly.

I assume it would work like a light flash shown in C. and continue to revert back to veg. DLI is should also be considered. The conversion from far red back to red deosn't take 24 hours. Cannabis is a short day ( long night) plant for anyone wondering.

You need to learn how to grow flawless crops before you start experimenting.

Of course everyone needs to master the basics first i agree with you on that. You can’t get comparable results if you can’t grow the same strain to it’s full potential everytime.

36 hours of darkeness. copy & paste

IMO

Short Day Plants
Cannabis plants have a smell from light reactions. We all know that smell when the lights come on and then that Vegetation smell when the lights go off... This explains the plant photosynthesis cycle to me. There are Classifications of Sativa's that enjoy 10 hr of dark for longer periods and some have said that those plants grown in a dark starved grow room, species - new classifications in cannabis (if any of you use proper naming conventions strain from seeds some Cannabis Chinesis Delile cultivars and mostly Cannabis Gigantea Delile strains Might encounter some 36 dark period benefit if they'd been dark period starved but I'm the only one Ive ever seen with these strains so I doubt your working with 30 - 40 ft cannabis...

bla bla bla Employers are completely intimidated by knowledge, we all have to have the biggest dick in grow skills but I'm here to tell you your wasting your time with most cannabis strains on a 36 hr dark period.

Plant Brains
Plants are solar panels once you under stand both sciences Calvin and Photovoltaic . A key difference is I can program a solar panel to count hours of lite & dark. To this day I have not taught a plant to count hours of lites on. But the plant knows how long it has been in the dark and here sir is where the great debate starts, can cannabis strains differ between C3 or a C4 plant.? I'm not going into weather a plant will age in 24 hours of lite. Nor will I give my IMO on moon or candle nite lighting.

36 hour of dark;
Some tomato growers will put new Tom clones in dark 24-36 hours. But these guys get roots in 4 to 8 days, Toms are a different animal... My response to clones in long dark periods, im not a fan of that either, just my paranoid but long dark periods could spawn/germ pathogens, molds/pm bacteria's on weak cuts. but IDK on that either for sure what the best lighting for clones should be so to each his own opinion..
but heres lite facts:

I think lighting for plants is wishy washy subject lacking proven technology.

Mine just spent about 24 hours in the dark on day 24 of flower. Not on purpose! On day 27 now and I don’t see any effect good or bad yet. Which is a good thing as I was a little freaked out there for a sec. lol

Update on this:

I harvested these plants. I’m relatively sure, after finishing the grow, that this cost me at least a one (probably two) weeks of grow time. The plants just stopped doing anything for about 14 days. I let them go for 72 days. This is a 55-65 day strain and my last run with the same genetics I pulled on day 63. The buds never really fattened up. I probably should have let the go a week more, but at that point I was already 2 weeks into flushing and they were looking faded. I didn’t want the yellowing to get to the buds.

It still made some good smoke. Which I’m enjoying this morning :) It just hurt my yield.

I would not recommend a dark period beyond a normal dark cycle during flower.

I also gave them 48 hours of darkness at harvest. With no significant difference in bud size or trich production when compared with pre dark period pictures.
