Both spaces are 12.5 x 20 the yellow is the walkable area, red dots are the fixtures.
The one on the right is the current setup with a 6x15 of actual trellis area equal to 90SF, 55Watts per SF. Three 7 gallon pots, lighting with five 1ks, I’m hitting 2 tomatoes per plant without co2. I like this since I can walk all the way around the grow. I’ve been over crawling around like a lunatic without having space to work like a gentleman long ago. Hence why I’m sacrificing grow area for creature comfort.
Now to the image on the left.
This is what I’m debating on doing.
Three plants and fixtures on each side of the room each in a 5x15=75sf space. That only gives me 40 watts per SF for each trellis setup. The light drop will be significant. Took out the PAR Meter and am getting about 125 Par from the lights on the other side of the room. I’m looking at 7 feet before the spread would even hit the trellis on the other side of the room.
The last time I went with just 3 lights was a test with 3 new and different varieties and no co2 I had gotten 14-16 per plant so I’m not complaining. Their will be 6 fixtures in the room so with the extra photons flying around potentially adding co2 I feel pulling 8 would be in the cards for both style rooms.
Bottom line I guess would be should I build out one room to the image on the left and see how it goes. Is it really worth it since I’m now using 2x the coco and nutes for comparable yields?
I’ve been running Jacks now and the plants grow differently than in Canna, GH, H&G, CS, etc. They aren’t as wide they seem to grow straighter and the stalks are a lot stronger. Best decision so far I’ve made regarding nutrients.
