I thought the circled areas looked kind of like balls, hence a male, although time will tell since I can't see anything definitive with my not so good eyesight. Look for the fuzzy white hairs in the "V" formation I the areas that are circled. Girls will have the white hairs, males will grow ball like structures that will eventually open and release pollen... all from the same circled area. You should know for sure in a day or two if it is going into flowering mode, although it is a little early for that, as outdoors photo plants don't usually start to flower until August, with some exceptions.
