Since I'm relatively new to the site, and my outdoor is almost done, I didn't want to start a diary at the end. That seemed dumb, so I'll catch you up.
I started seventy seeds indoor last winter for pre-sexing. I start them in 12/12, and move them to the veg chamber to revert as soon as they show sex. I keep any interesting males and all healthy females. The strains were, B52, sweet purple, kc39, guerilla's gusto, island bud, haley comet, AMS, kaya, and white widow. I also started twenty greenhouse fems (big bang, trainwreck), but they popped and died. Since I had seventy to start, and only these two and the island bud had problems, I would have to assume that it was the seeds. The island bud gave me a bunch of hermies and duds, so I guess they were old. Like really old.
Whatever the case, I put out over thirty, and there's only 19 left. This years lesson is: DO NOT put your plants outside directly from 24/0. They will go directly into flower, then come out again when they realize the light schedule, and then stop growing for two months. I think they call it shock :headbang AND, some of them will die.
Also, reeds are not the only thing to look for when wondering about flooding. I found a new patch this year that looked yummy, but in the end it was a wash. Litreally. I saw that the road drained off into this area, and thought that it would help me with watering. But, with all the rain this year, it only succeeded in drowning most of them. So out of the ten my buddy gave me, only three remain. One looks like half of the plant is drowning, and the others are stunted. I also put my one WW female there, and it looks like shit.
The spot that these pics were from I call the "pit of rot", because last year (3rd growing there) I lost most of the crop here to rot. That's why I bought the AMS, and the Kaya. Of course green house sucks, and the AMS has already lost a branch to rot. So much for Anti-mold Strain. The kaya, however, has rewarded me with a trifoliate. I don't know if you can see the pic names, but the trifoliate is labeled trikaya. The AMS2 is the one that rotted out already. And, you can definitely see the growth difference between the tri and the regualr kaya. The small plant pic from above is actually two plants, both of the shocked variety. Luckily, both of them are coming back enough to fill out the cage. The rest are random bud shots from all of these plants. Most of the trichs were clear going on cloudy, but I saw a few amber in there.
Pics in order: ams1, ams2, trikaya, kaya, TwoInOne, and then a bunch of bud porn.
And, pic 0063 shows a problem on the regular kaya. I'm in the process of identifying the problem, but after a good look, I didn't see any bugs. Anyone know if that's a deficiency of some kind?
