I think the 4000k plus 660nm red would be a better overall choice than 3000k.. but I also recommend the kingbrite quantum boards from Alibaba.. great lights . Great price

Didn't have a option for 4000k sir :) only 3000 or 3500 so i took the 3000k like the others, now the 1st order that shipped yesterday did, but not with the cree leds 3000k was the only thing I seen, should I have this changed over to the 3500 for this set

I don't recommend stuff I've not used myself. That being said, this is what I use right now. I've got 1 run out of it so far, in a 3x3x6 tent one plant, not trained or scrogged or anything, and I got almost a half pound, dried prime cannabis. Am on 2nd go now, scroggin and expecting over a pound. Out of a light that only takes 250w that's not bad. I almost hit a gram a watt without even trying really.

Full Spectrum LED Grow Light 1500W Sunshine COB LED Grow Light, X5 COB LED Plant Light for Growing Fresh Herbs,Vegetables,Flowers, with ON/Off Switch HollandStar (X5-1500W-White)

I've bought 3 of them now, 2 for my dad 1 for me, but I want another one too now.
We've broken out a par meter and checked the specs of all 3 units. The numbers are fairly accurate (+- %5 kinda thing) definitely do the job and dont cost a ton. $110 Canadian, free shipping.

They also make an x6 and x8 respectively.
6 cob and 8 cob versions. But its better to just buy 2 x5 units.

glad to hear that worked out! some of those lower cost units can really do well. as an added bonus, even if one of those cobs goes out, you can upgrade them all and come out cleaner on the other side.

I have that same X5 "1500 watt" fixture, except mine is the previous model with blurple COBs. Like nearly any other light source, it'll grow some plants. It definitely got me going when I had under $100 to spend on my first light. I've just come to consider mine basically garbage. Even after disassembling and cleaning out all the dust, mine still throws ungodly heat compared to my newer fixture. There are times when I put my hand on it and it's actually uncomfortably hot. Here's are some pics I recently posted where I showed the difference in heat output between my 2 LEDs, to reference what I'm talking about:

20190902 175702
20190902 175516

If anyone wants one, looks like they're also cheaper on Ali:

Oof. That sucks man. But you can't really compare that old burple to what I've got lol. The only thing the same is the the x5 name. 🤣

I'm not so sure. I'm fairly confident that they're basically identical, aside from which COBs were installed. I've seen like half a dozen different companies selling those exact fixtures under different names. They seem to buy them wholesale in bulk - often from places like Alibaba - and pay a little extra to have their name stamped in the case. I'd be fairly surprised if there is any actual difference between ours, other than the actual COBs. Have my doubts that they're pouring much money into R&D to upgrade their drivers between each generation.

Burple runs at 118f and mine runs under 80. Right there that should tell you a lot.

The case isn't the same, the power supply obviously isn't the same, and the LEDs are obviously not the same.

There is nothing that makes it alike to mine other than it has 5 LEDs in a x pattern.

All that's happened is that the tech has gotten better and cheaper. Name brand manufacturers still charge an arm and a leg for the same or sometimes even inferior product. Just so you can say you have a Mars blahs blahs blahs or an hlg such and such.

If I wanted to buy something name brand the performs like this light, I'd have to spend 3 or 4 times as much.
For a name.
