* 1 is it normal for the plants to wilt when they lights are off? = yes
*2 solution for timer issue = if your running 110v service on your led instead of 240v, get yourself a simple 110v timer and run that as your “ light controller “ and if you lose power, always remember , to keep it on proper time on your plants so they don’t get confused on their cycles ( you can even have backup upc to keep it running if you did run out of power. Anther tip is if you have long term power outage , use a flashlight and guarantee light till you have power )

Thanks for the tips! My electric company sucks and we have a power outage once a month, i try to guess which day but its hard. i dont even have a generator, but have been looking into a budget one.

so this was the main question i was worried about, and recently Aqua man helped me out with a nice solid answer. But i am open for another opinion, try to learn from a different angle.

Ratio as in nutes? not to sure what that means, im to new lol.
Theyre early veg, i once again was an idiot and didnt really take a date of when the plants started, theyre probably about a month old, but growth was definitely stunted do to the issues posted here in this thread:


So since i had those problems, i transplanted EARLY, into a 2 gallon pot, to check the roots out, i noticed the roots were having issues. so i put it in a fresh twogallon pot, FROM a 1 gallon. Its just, these two gallons i ordered look extremely tall, but skinnier, definitely a 2 gallon, i just worry that them being to tall will make it harder for the inside to dry out. i could have just taken to fat of a dab and now im panicing over bullshit??

Just to post the info i gave so other can see if it fits the bill. I suggested that with a taller pot using the finger method would not be a good idea since soil moisture will vary more in a taller pot. going by weight would be the ideal method and that roots will find the water.

As to if taller or wider pots are better i can't say but you soil guys could probably answer that

Sorry buddy not trying to throw u under a bus or anything.
Always appreciate a wide variety of responses. I dont feel like as if i have to panic anymore atleast. LOL. i worried because the length, just makes me iffy. I was going to like emergency transplant, but i think ill let er sit and see how it goes, unless anyone else has a decent objection. She seems to be drying out at a decent rate, i may have to water tonight and that was about 4 days.
Appreciate the help man as always, this grow would be fucked without you guys here LOL.

Oh hell no brother not throwing me under the bus. I was adding it so others knew what had been suggested. The best thing about this place is good discussions happen when ppl have differing views. There are not many that here that get into pissing matches and the best info comes from these discussions. If i didn't post what i told ya there is no opportunity for debate and you may not get the best info possible. Its not about being right its about getting the right answer

Love it man, thats why ive come and stayed here. You can get so many knowledgeable opinions and learn from so many different spectrum's. The people here have the right mindset when it comes to us new growers too. We struggle, and we need to learn, and experienced growers are our source, maybe some books and youtube videos, but theres nothing better than some first hand veteran experience.

I thought about a couple more things.

Whenever i water, my leaves curl for like an hour and then go back to normal. Are they supposed to? This happened my first grow too. does that mean i need to let it dry more?

my pot took like 6 days to dry out but showed healthy signs all the way through. less water? or is 6 days okay? (different plant than first question above^)

I have never had a pest issue. Should i be prepared for one? i have some pesticides, but how prepared should i be? should i be pesticiding already?

Are you feeding with cold water? Temp shock can do that.

I’ve only been growing a little over a year, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt. Will just mention one thing that jumped out at me cause it was an issue I had to deal with as well.

For a while I had to deal with humidity lower than I wanted, was always in the 35-50% RH during veg. I used a cool mist vaporizer and it was a pain. What I found was I didn’t have enough plants for my growing space, once I had more in there it pretty much fixed itself. Talk to 10 people and they will probably have 10 different ways of doing things because everyone’s grow is different. I think part of the challenge if finding that sweet equilibrium spot for you. Just changing plant density in your grow is an option that I don’t see mentioned very much. Could be worth a try.

Hmm sounds like some solid advices here.
I’m just going to chime in about container size, start with the smallest possible pot if photo period genome. Meaning if it’s a normal light period plant and not an auto flower, start is something the size of a solo cup, let plants get root bound or poking out the bottom before u “up pot” .
The reason it’s taking 6-7 days or more to dry out is why your plants are reacting the way they are. They simply don’t the root mass to use up all that water and it’s rotting out the root zone . Fox farm soil is normally “hot” so having a larger quantity of said soil without the root mass to use all that free nitrogen (or NPK) causes stress and plants do stunt. So my 2 cents, start small, work her up. And I do totally agree about plant density and available humidity, it’s due to the perspiration that occurs during light out period that adds moisture load. So in a dryer climate having a sea of green setup is ideal and reverse for humid areas.

I have my humdity set to 47% for veg and i drop it to 32% for flower. do you think i should raise it up? i do have two humdifiers pumping. one is at full blast, one at 25%. so humidity isnt really an issue. I mean, if it is an issue, its fixable.

thank you for this jack, i just saw this today when i transplanted out of a smaller cup, i noticed how theyre healthier and everything. I only went to a 2 gallon pot because i wanted to see how bad the rootball was from previous issues in a one gallon pot. so i transplanted,checked the roots and just went into a bigger pot. Am i screwed now? how can i fix the situation? You just hit the exact issue on the head Jack OG, now i gotta fix it lol.

Minorly chilled. I will put my water infront of a heater prior to watering.

If transferred to a new container , leave it be, they take a few days to acclimate. Just water less. As far as humidity, I shoot for 60% to 65% at veg and 50-45 in flower lowering the humidity as the flowering progresses. A good humidifier and dehumidifier will be your best friend, have ample cross flow of air and a good ratio or turnover of air from grow space going in and out. I don’t think it’s going to be an issue as u have it . And it’s normal if a few don’t make it. Accept losses. Above all don’t baby it too much! I know it’s hard! Lol but hey remember it’s a weed. Not much kills it. But over watering will cause issues further down the line. Also water at a slight acidic range in veg, 5.8-6.1 ph and 5.5-6 in flower, check the run off once a week to see what went in and what’s coming out. This check is to ensure you are not over feeding or over watering. But like I said don’t over parent it. She will be alright man!

Ahhh, i can relax. LOL.
Okay, so bring the humidity up a notch, i can do that. I transferred to this two gallon about a week ago, it came back well. and then i fuckin overwatered it again, but i watered to fast, and now i know, slower. So we will see what happens! Just picked up some happy frog today, and wow i can see a difference. i think i became a happy frog fan today!

DUDE THIS IS AWESOME. So if i run an average temperature of 75(Edited: I originally typoed 85). I would want 65% humidity, according to that chart? If im reading it correctly?

Yep all about the capacity of the environment to load or hold moisture and the plants ability to uptake or use up said moisture. Vapor density charts are you best friend in a tent grow! And I always cut my fox farm with black gold basement mix, which is a coco perlite amended soil. Happy frog needs more perlite and coco FYI, it’s very loamy clay like and in air pots it sucks if u don’t add more coco and perlite. U can-cut with promix bx soil too.

Fuck,what if i did 50/50 happy frog/ocean forest? I just did a bunch of planting today and never added perlite, am i fucked?

Should be ok. But I have to be very careful about watering until the plant takes off. They hold water for a bloody long time but once the plants take off, u maybe watering daily! So just be very conservative in watering

okay, just took my bag of perlite and dumped it in the happy frog bag at a good ratio so i dont forget next time. Everyday i make minor adjustments to this tent that are going to make huge differences, and i hate figuring out something i should have done, after i did it. Lol like i wish i knew to add perlite before, now ill panic about watering. Hahahaha. but i now i know!! thanks for the lesson jack, im reading all about VPD right now!
