Just Tracing back to the original plant, the blue cheese i posted about, she went into the night cycle wayyyy happier tonight :D Still not where she used to be but shes definitely bouncing back. i think in a couple hours when the light comes back on shell start really smiling and being happy again, i gotta get this watering gig down :(

Hey, well we are sidetracked and garden tools, i bought an Equate BRITA LIKE, not brita, but brita like water filter pitcher. If i used that filter water for my plants, am i wasting my time???
All that will remove is pretty much the chlorine. Just the charcoal filter right? No harm in using it but typically tap water is 1 ppm of chloramines legal limit is 4 in NA. I don't feel it's a real issue but if it at max levels and you will smell it if it is. It may benefit but I would not personally worry about it.

I did a ppm test, my hard water is running at 240 recently, ppm, i thought it was at 175, but my recent test showed 240, maybe i need to calibrate ppm meter somehow? anyways, i did 240 ppm on hardwater, then after filtering it through the pitcher, it tested at 145. so im obviously removing something, but am i removing the correct contaminants? i know i wont remove all of them.

The water pitcher is for me, my family and my dogs. so we can drink healthier water, so if i can use it for my plants, thats just a plus. if its just a waste of time, then ill keep it for my personal use LOL.

Agreed... Also you don't need to be dead on. Especially in soil... There is almost no need to ph in almost every case. Sometimes it's needed but in that case I would a better water source is a better option.

I have never checked the ph on the yellowed burned and now recovering flowers i posted. Its obvious the soil was acidic. Leach the pots some. No more acidic ph.

I think the focus on ph in potting soil is causing many problems. I think the soft cloth pots are also causing problems from uneven drying.

Its pretty much every help thread is in cloth pots with a half dozen growers suggesting slurry tests on properly buffered potting soil.

And the plants dont improve until the grower gets watering and feeding right.

You are likely good at the 145 ppm. Some Calcium has been filtered out.

Nah you guys are fine, i read and learn. :D I mean its just more advanced growers discussing knowledge ill probably need in the future. Nothing is a waste or a clog. Thank you aqua for clearing up the confusing though :D Hahaha, question though after reading this, bluelab seems to be the top dog. is that worth spending the money on over like this cheap 15 dollar amazon etekcity pen i have? do i have to keep bluelab wet too? dont want to spend like 80 bucks or whatever it is on the pen, for it to dry and me waste 80 bucks LOL.

I use a bluelab truncheon to avoid needing calibration or special storage solutions.

It is not as accurate as the digital pens as it rounds off the reading but mine has worked for 6 years now. Only needed batteries a couple times and have to clean off the sensor end with barkeepers friend or another gritty soap with no perfume. But you just put a dab on a finger and rub of the end. Then rinse. Thats it.

For potting soil it is plenty accurate. Exact ppm doesnt matter in soil as much as hydro jist like ph.

My truncheon lasted me 6 years also before I gave it to someone, no clue if it's still out there somewhere being used. Makes a great stir stick too.

I'm pretty sure I've only had to change the batteries on mine twice in 11 years.

okay so shes pretty dry, and she moved like molasses the past week, i said she was growing, and she was a little bit, but definitely not full speed, and over the past 72 hours or so, she hasnt really changed. just keep waiting??? i can just tell shes not moving much because she turned her branches with the lst and then they just stopped and havent gone anywhere, i can tell nothings happening. you can tell shes even starting to dry out.

this is how i can tell shes not moving, the lst hasnt moved from this in a couple of days.

Overall, i think she looks, Okay. i mean, not what she used to be but shes a healthy green, she doesnt look like a dusty purple anymore. so thats good lol.
Shes still got a little bit before water time, so im going to keep letting her sit. calibrating ph pen now, got distilled water that will help next time around

theyre all reading super low, all very dry, but the one bigger one feels heavy stilll, sketching me out, i put my finger in the soil, its dry, but it feels like the plants rootball is still damp. like once u go deep enough and hit where the roots start, feels damp. i feel like i start thinking about this way to fucking hard and stress myself out lol.

So water the dry one and wait and check again tomorrow on the bigger one. With different plants and pots it will always be that way.

Thats exactly what i did, even though that bigger one is looking sad, im okay to just leave her until tomorrow? i guess its better to dry er out then water her to much so ill keep letting her dry more.

Keep an eye on her. If she actually wilts water her and she will likely straighten right out.

If she looks better tomorrow then you know to wait longer to water. Thats what happened when i learned to wait. The plants looked the best the dryest day.
