Feed them 2-3 times a day at 600-800ppm
I'm on the other side of the spectrum regading feeding, and I usually only feed about every few weeks with no real issues. One thing that I'm a little confused about is my nute strength, which I have never measured in decades. For vegging, I'm using Jack's 20-20-20, about 1 tablespoon/gallon. According to the info that comes with it, that ratio should give me about a 500 PPM mix. I was just noticing the difference with my feeding roughly a gallon/plant every 2 weeks at 500 PPM, but others are feeding much higher doses several times daily. If I fed much more often, I start to see signs of overfeeding. I DO add some time release nutes to the initial Promix/composted manure mix, but I don't think it really dds too much overall other than micronutrients.
As I have often said, there are many ways to grow and I prefer to use a lot less nutes, but are my figurin's off or am I making a mistake somewhere? I don't think I have any problems, but who knows?

This is a fantastic question deserving of a well thought out reply.. Maybe it's my dirt senses tingling, but I suspect aquaman is workin on it lol.

I'm with ya brother... That soil recipe you gave me did me well. Only water for most of the grow.

But he is in coco/perlite. So watering at this stage should be at least 2 times a day with good runoff. It's much more wasteful than soil as you are refreshing the nutes 2 times a day and tossing them but that's what keeps them balanced in coco. It's a lot like hydro

I always kind of thought Promix was like Hydro, but I guess now that I stop and think about it, it is more like soil, sort of. I guess it is kind of a class by itself. Once I fertilize, it seems to stay in the medium instead of washing out with the next watering, although I'm not sure why. I add the timed release stuff to supplement feeding between my 2 week dosing, but I didn't think it was all that strong of a nute that it keeps feeding like it seems to. FWIW, I have fed mine maybe 4 times since mid Feb, and I had one plant that didn't like the strength of the nutes at all and had the twisting new leaves start to develop. A quick flush remedied the situation, but I guess some strains are a LOT different. The old strains from many years back grew like monsters and ate well, but for the first time in decades I had a nute issue with the one strain. I guess I need to get out from under the rock more often! 😎

It is a bit more wasteful for sure. But a dialed in coco grow shouldnt get much runoff at all. I get like 15% on the first feed and 5-10% every feed after that. I think the biggest difference is in how much more water and nutrients get blown through the plant, I cant believe how much water they suck up in a day in coco.

The thing with Coco is it holds a ton of water but retains the perfect amount of air roughly between 80-95% saturation. And although it has a cec, because you use so little media, it has little influence over the rootzone in the grand scheme. So you can keep the coco at say, 75-100% saturation all the time by feeding it small shots of nutrient solution several times a day. By doing that the roots have 24/7 access to every macro and micronutrient in the right proportions and the right ec and ph constantly, ppm doesnt swing up or down, and it keeps the rootzone at a constant rate of osmotic pressure. Uptake of water and nutrients speeds way up, growth rate speeds way up, metabolism goes wild.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the help, the girls are looking way better. I raised the base nutes a little and started watering them everyday and they just blew up. They’re green and great. It’s crazy what problems you can come across if you wait for the coco to dry out before watering. I transplanted into 3 gallon pots a week ago and there’s rooting shooting out the bottoms already. The only thing left to correct is the red/purple on the stems
