Quick Update

It got windy this past weekend
20200531 142657

Male Darth Vader. No worries, he'll still produce plenty of pollen and that's his only job. Those broken branches may even continue to grow. We'll see but there's still 2 branches attached.

First batch of GDP tincture
15910273710182342372206435154145

Taste is incredible. 3 gms decarbed bud and 1.5 oz 190 proof alcohol. I'll be making a lot more!

4 ounces of manicured bud so far and still have a third of the plant hanging. GDP has moved into my top 5 strains of all time.

My criteria for weed is taste first. If it don't taste good I don't care how high it gets me. High of course is important but I want a package deal. Growth rate and production are also important. Growing plants 4-6 months is a long time and I want as much as possible. GDP fits the bill.

Current fav list
#1 Northern Lights
#2 GDP
#3 Chemdog
#4 Super Glue
#5 Mendo Purps

Looks like snails/slugs got my last planting, 12 GDP's. I'll have to start another batch in the small greenhouse as well as taking some clones. I've got a lot of other seeds on the swing set I'll have to move. Running low on bait.

This week is pretty much it for summer planting and getting a decent fall harvest. Plant 'em if ya got 'em!

Taking the day off, back's been on fire all weekend. Had a 50 gal water heater scheduled but it's not an emergency so it can wait. Painful to even go up to water so it's going to be an easy day with little movement allowed and a lot of bong tokes and morning coffee with tincture.

All 26 tomatoes are flowering
20200530 162727

All in 1-2 gal pots of coco and growing like weeds. I have to build supports soon. Not today!!!

Time to water then attach myself to a TENS machine. Ice packs are also on the agenda. Fun times🤣

Had an interesting visitor on the patio last night
20200602 194011

These little ones move a lot faster than the larger species. I almost stepped on one a few months ago in the garden. This one was the size of a quarter.

The other Darth Vader is also a male
IMG 20200603 134157

He'll join his brother tonight
20200603 134620

All broken up and still growing.

The 2 Ground Pounder girls are stretching away
20200603 134238

Very nice. I've got 3 more young ones on my tray
20200603 135006

I plan on crossing one with the Vader.

2 GDP clones
20200603 134245

And a gopher
20200603 134254

They'll all be coming down by mid to late August. An all you can smoke smorgasbord. 😉

MasterBlend Update

This is the place to purchase. $45 for 25lbs includes shipping. The calcium is still available on Amazon and at a better price w/ free shipping.

I've looked and asked others about using MB from start to finish with no luck so I'll have to dial it in with some trial and error.

From the time I started using MB (Sept 19) I begin with half strength for the first 3 weeks then 2/3's from 3-5 wks and full strength through veg. Works well.

Once flipped I tried cutting down the calcium then eliminating it altogether the last month. I didn't like how the plants faded.

This round I cut the calcium and magnesium by half and added another half strength of the tomato fertilizer. The plants have really responded with their stretch.

I'll continue lowering the amounts of the cal/mag as flowering continues but so far I like the results.

Glad I could help my friend! I've wondered about using it at 4-18-38 by itself too, I think it would be fine especially in mid-to-late flower but I'm not sure so I'll follow along and see what you come up with but I don't see why not??

Agree but again I didn't like how quickly the girls faded. By adding more of the tomato the N is upped as well as the P & K and the plants are responding very positively.

There's a recipe I've seen that's a little different for mixing MB for veg. I've got it in ny memos on another phone. I'll find it and post it. I haven't tried it yet but no doubt will, eventually.

I really like MB. It works with my tap water perfectly. No pH up or down needed. Full strength gives me a 5.8 pH.

A lot of my concern is due to my winter grow and resulting small buds. I'm sure with more light and warmer days it would have been better but Im also sure if I can dial this in I'll end up with a superior product.

That GDP I took down last month was one of the best I've ever grown and it's seeded.

Odd Thursday Update

Starting to feel human again. Been a pain, literally. Puffing GDP out of a metal pipe and it tastes great (LESS FILLING!)

Dragon cucumbers
20200603 135014

Will grow in 1 gal pots of coco.

Tomatoes are killing it
20200601 160630

These are 5 wks old and all have flowers.

Ground Pounders
20200603 135006

Really liking these.

Older sister
IMG 20200602 074924

Look at that leaf hopper enjoying my buds. Nice stretch on these. Got a male so will produce seeds. Very nice strain from a fellow Farmer. Can't wait to taste this girl.

Bonging the GDP now. Taste is amazing. I've really built up a tolerance. Oh well, I'll just take another dozen hits. I'll show 'em.

Happy Growing!

Another Saturday Update

Moved the male Ground Pounder
20200606 180903

Fricken rock star. This is some good shit. Wait until you see his sister.

The 2 Darth Vader boys
20200606 190656

Best of the two Ground Pounder females. I am impressed.
IMG 20200606 180621

The 2 GDP clones and 2 Ground Pounder girls
20200606 180405

And a Gopher
20200606 175835

All flowering

3 younger Pounders
20200606 170231

They got a trim today and thought I'd try the cuttings in Kratky bottles.
20200606 181145

The one on the right is Thai basil. Our local Pho restaurant reopened in-dining so we paid a visit Thursday night. Still have the last one in a Kratky bottle.
15914994322165009505992221140044

on the patio table.

3 GDP's
20200606 140258

One 2 gal and two 1 1/2 gal coco from seed. So far I've only used 1 gal pots so very interested to see the results on these. I'm afraid I'm going to have to purchase coco from Amazon as the 99 Cent stores in my area are out. 8 qts for $1.99 is difficult to beat.

I'm about done with the gophers in Kratky
20200606 170355

They all suffered PM and lost lower leaves but the growth rate isn't worth it. If they're girls I'll pollinate but no other reason to keep.

Now the GDP clones that were in a home made bubble cloner with algae
20200606 170323

were moved to Kratky bottles and will be perfect for crossing with the Darth Vader, Ground Pounder and Gopher. Maybe 1-3 dozen seeds each I'd figure but would keep my larger females virgin and I'm really liking that option.

Been a good year for growing, so far. Weather is weird right now with night rain and June gloom for most of the day but that should be ending soon. I didn't plant successfully May 25th so I'll have to take more clones off the GDP girls.

The bubble cloner works well. I need to paint a few ice cream buckets and lids and take some more clones.

Believe it or not winter planting is June 25th for a Christmas harvest.

Time to get blazed. Gonna roll one up, puff it down and then take a few bong tokes. Oh look, tincture!

Happy Growing!

Kratky Clones
20200610 211759

Taken 3 days ago.

Had to share this. Red cup shot glass with holes, coco coir & 12 oz half strength nutes. Liking this.

I did paint a 4x bubble cloner
20200610 211742

Easy and effective. Kratky clones rock. Bubble cloners rock. It's all good.

Monday Update

I'm really liking this Kratky cloning
20200615 162537

Taken 8 days ago. Too easy.

Look my post above at that Thai basil I brought home over a week ago from our favorite Pho restaurant. Look at it now.
20200615 162744

Up until today I thought I was going to lose this one. Looks like it'll lose a couple leaves, maybe. Couple roots poking out of the basket. Amazing.

I placed some Kratky GDP clones next to the boys
20200615 173644

Put one with the Ground Pounder
20200615 173708

and two with the Vader boys. I've got 4 gophers in bottles I'll move out there and of course collect pollen and do a couple branches of the girls.

Speaking of which
20200615 163925

Just beautiful. Ground Pounders from GK Genetics.
20200615 163833

The GDP clones don't look half bad either
20200615 163933

20200615 163754

Little greenhouse is full, as usual
20200615 174319

3 GDP's in 1 1/2 & 2 gal pots of coco. Pretty sure the 2 larger ones
20200615 174747

are boys but the smaller one looks to be all girl
20200615 174725

I'll know soon as they need to be moved to the large greenhouse and these Ground Pounders
20200615 174942

moved off my tray and in their place. I need the room. 10 days until Christmas harvest planting. Nothing like Christmas bud.

I've got tomatoes on half a dozen plants at about 2 months old
20200615 170315

I don't think I'll ever grow veggies in soil again and will be starting my fall tomatoes end of this month in coco. Figure I can grow them until the cold in Oct-Nov and maybe keep them going in the greenhouse until Feb.

Soil grow
20200615 174038
Soil sucks. Those pots would serve me better filled with coco.

I ordered coco from Amazon today. Kills me. Needed DE, water conditioner and rockwool cubes as well but after paying $1.99 for 8 qts this stings a little. If I ever see it again for that price I'll buy it by the pallet load!

I need a vacation so I've got to come up with an auto watering system for 26 tomatoes, 8 cucumbers and about a dozen cannabis in pots. I've got buckets, PVC pipe, 1/2" tubing, 1/4" tubing and several dozen drip heads. Thinking of mounting 20' of 2" PVC pipe on the fence and by using gravity run tubing down to the rows and see how long I can continuously fertigate. If I could do a couple days without mixing nutes or hand watering, that would be great. I need a break and the plants may benefit. Seems the more one waters plants in coco the better the results.

Time for some hash. Until next time, Happy Growing!

Wednesday mini update

Roots at day 10
20200617 101925

Thai basil is also rooted
20200617 102015

Easy cloning and 100% success so far.

Grasshoppers have hatched
20200617 070921

I've killed several in the last couple days. I've been lightly dusting with sulfur and DE every weekend and will dust again tonight. I haven't seen an aphid in weeks.

I'll be moving plants around tonight
20200617 081315

Out of room. Once plants get about 2' tall they explode with growth. Looks like a few of the smaller ones need their last topping as well.

My new coco arrived yesterday
20200617 073457

Haven't opened it yet as I still have a couple dozen qts of the old. It looks good and price wasn't too bad at $18.99 for 10 lbs.

Ground Pounder female continues to impress

Friday Night Garden Walk

I use to do these weekly. It's been a while. I've got a beer and a roach burning
20200619 230654

so let's take a walk up to the garden.

Worked all day so plants were fertigated at 7am and dried out.

Compost box tomatoes
20200619 233409

This box is currently in use but a couple tomato seeds decided to grow. Okay, it's every year. I expected it.

Tomatoes
20200619 233543

About 7 weeks old producing tomatoes. I have to build supports this weekend. Mainly Beefsteak but a few Rugerts and 8 unknown freebies. All in coco coir.

My nute mix station in the little greenhouse
20200619 215054

The 3 bottles on the left with colored caps are concentrated MasterBlend nutes. Each gallon of concentrate will make 32 gallons of full strength nutrient a half cup at a time. All I seem to do anymore is mix nutes and fertigate plants. Wash, rinse, repeat. Groundhog Day, really.

Soil grow
20200619 233603

I really don't know why I bother.

Kratky clones
20200619 222029

20200619 222040

20200619 222052

Yeah, they're rooted. I don't think I've ever had a 100% clone rate before.

A few pics of my Ground Pounders
IMG 20200619 223119

IMG 20200619 223103

20200619 222537

These will come down mid/late July.

The big greenhouse smells really nice
20200619 222515

I love having the West side full again. Seems naked and alone without 8 plants.

Pretty sure a couple of those GDP's are male. As soon as I know for sure they'll come down and I'll reuse the coco and pot.

If ya grow outdoors take a garden walk one night a week. Happy Growing!
