Gave them another 5ml each of bucket water, dribbled around the top of the RW.

No visible roots underneath yet.
Again with the 5ml each of bucket water.
If I post update images every day this journal is going to get absurd. I'll slow down once things progress a bit more, but I want to have this day-by-day reference to help me remember the tempo better next time. 😎

Bro my baby died. 😪😢. I made a rookie move and exposed my roots to too much light. Won’t do that again. I get the importance now. It’s getting tiring but at least I learned a valuable lesson. But I have my clone still and there’s still hope with her. She’s been in my clone tray so no light exposure to the roots. Can’t wait to see what I can do with my new found knowledge. DWC is going to kill me.

Oh no.

A moment of silence for your poor sprout. Sorry to hear the bad news. Don't give up!

Still no visible roots. Blueberry is starting to look like a born loser, hopefully I'm just being impatient.
Our timelines are very close. I think I started my small ones on July 27 from dry seed and took them out of the napkins on Aug 1, I'm interested to see how your hydro develops alongside my soil grow. Hydro usually grows much faster, I believe.

The following seedling was put in napkins on July 22 and placed in jiffy pots on July 25 here's what the look like today. The second photo is one started on the 27th, and planted on Aug 1

Mine look's like longer stems, and perhaps a little bigger, (but I cherry picked them from among a dozen or more plants) but yours should overtake them shortly, I suspect. My stems are way more stretched out than yours also.

Looking good! I'm interested to see how the progress compares too. 👀
What's the strain you've got there, and is it a photoperiod?

edit: ah, blueberry and WW, is the WW auto also?

Blueberry is fem auto, WW is fem photo. I'm gambling they'll be close enough in growth rate that I can change the light timer based on WW and just let Blueberry do her auto-thing..

Make sure you don't have to much light. Are you top feeding the seedlings?

That Blueberry sprout looks like Shrek sat on it while watching the Godfather parts 1 and 2, while eating a large bowl of chili.
I dug it up, sort of.
I very carefully removed the pebbles from around the rockwool and excavated the rockwool cylinder.
There are about 1" or so of tiny roots coming out of the bottom.
I excavated deeper and re-set the rockwool closer to the bottom.
Now Blueberry is sitting in a bit of a hole.

Light meter app reads ~5k with phone setting on top of the bucket.

I'm still top feeding bucket water, 5ml / day, but Blueberry looks oversaturated to me, and the rockwool is quite damp. I'm very tempted to skip watering her for a day or two.

No visible roots under WW yet, but damn they gotta be close!

Oh, I should add: My lights have been on 24 hours a day. I didn't use a timer on the first grow because they were both autos. The timer I ordered arrived today and I set them to 8 off 16 on schedule starting tonight.

Blueberry didn't shrivel up and die on me, so I'm hopeful she'll pull it together soon. The RW is definitely soaked. 5ml / day may have been too much for her.

No top feeding today.

Honestly why for myself I would never use rockwool. It would probably serve you better to let them gain a few more roots before putting them in the system if this part is a struggle.

Not trying to pick at things just pointing out thing I would do differently.

I also think they are not in the right Position and to high up in the media. 1-2" of hydroton and then place the cube. Then cover with hydroton. Those roots have a long ways to go to hit the water and imo it may cause issues. The reason for this is they will get the moisture from the bubbles breaking the surface. And water should be 1-2" from the bottom of the net pot.

If you can't fill the rest of the pot with hydroton after putting the cubes on 1-2" then wrap the net pots in electrical tape to prevent light from bleeding through until you can fill them.

There is some work around a but it's hard to say without being there.

Again just my opinions and what works for me.

You originally advised every other day, but I never listen to good advice. It's a personality flaw. 😆
Hey that may have even been to much bro. Honestly I would pull that cube out. I bet the roots are hardly developed yet. Put it in a low light place with nice warm temps to help it dry out and then put it back in the system after. Rockwool imo can be touchy but so can everything.

It's hard to tell from the photos, but Blueberry is looking a little better, she gained a few mm in height.
I realized the reduced fill in the basket is letting some light into the res, so added a shield.

Yea, it looks better to me also.

I think it's the damp, probably struggling with O2 sats IMO. I've struggled with rockwool under similar situations, so we've all been there. I've also used "grow plugs" and there marginally better IMO. Just looks like it's struggling to transpire, but just barely hanging in there., trying to maintain it's flora balance, like the anaerobes are trying to move in, but still that balance is fighting it back. Anything to improve oxygen to the roots is going to be beneficial IMO.

Do you have a bubbler air stone? If you can somehow increase that oxygen flow, (just pumping air into the bucket) you should be alright. Or something as simple as a small fan injected from the bottom, or on top. I think even some water in the bottom if it was bubbling, would be fine. What are your temps like?

See my runt in the batch? It's purple haze auto, so I really want it to survive.
