Remember, I’m only concerned with veg.......for flowering it will only be the LED at 20 inches.

yes and my thinking is by adding the HPS you should add faster growth or more stretch to the plant in the veg period. thats my hang up with LED is slower growth, but my other thought is this under my HPS I can considerably control the stretch of the plants at flip, by adjusting day/night temps, wind from fans, light height and N and P. using those I can greatly reduce stretch at flip to almost none with some strains. So the first test I'd with my LEDs is use those variables to see if I couldn't make my plants stretch more at flip making up for slower veg. But at the least in veg I'd play with day night temps to make my plants produce more gibberellin that should alone give you more growth in veg.

I’m running my room now at a 15 degree spread night/ day and it didn’t make one damn bit of difference! Nor did raising the lights to 4 ft.

I'm shocked that spread hasn't made a difference yet. How cool is it getting? Like 65-80? Should be fine....

Hmph

If your running 80's or close to it i'd come to 60 anyhow maybe even 55-58 at night, if not for the whole night at least a couple hours before lights on, the stretch takes place in the first few hours of lights on, so you want that contrast in temps, if your trying to reduce stretch you only have to cold dump your room for those first few hours of lights on and keep the night temp up.
Now remember these are tests I'd run with LED's because I'd want to see the outcome as I never ran LED's before, I did this a million times under my hps, so i know the outcome, I've done some pretty extreme testing lol its the only way one learns shit. at the right time in flower I learned I can run as low as 0 c at night , and get an amazing outcome with most strains.

Don't get me wrong SSHZ I know you grow to grow and not to do testing lol, I'm just throwing some ideas out there that may give you some faster grow, but when I get my LED's I'll let you know what I find out. because I'll do some extreme shit to see what happens

This gavita de hps i got makes em stretch but i havnt.played with the variables.theres been 10deg max between night and day.i have said a few times in my diary theres too much n in my nutes.i havnt played with plant height to light either and just let them grow to it but it does dry the top leaves abit at 50-60cm .im still on my learners indoors and learning the basics before i can start manipulating them without any negative effect..but im gonna get a led anyhow so i can take advantage of the space im wasteing quicker with better return..

exactly right...... 15 degrees should be plenty, but I might go to a 20 degree spread and see what happens.

My DE makes them stretch to but not like single ended, you won't gain as much with adjusting light height with the DE, I could get more stretch out of the single ended by raising it then I can with the DE, I generally though don't mess with to much as I just factor in the stretch I know I'm going to get and just flip my plants at the height need to get my final height. however I do have a couple strains that stretch bad, and with those my first step is always nutrients, thats whether I want more or less stretch, but usually for less, and if its winter or cold out side, I'll cold dump my room for the first couple hours of light on as that is easy to do.

Shanti.......... it’s being reported that he is being detained, not arrested so people are surmising it was at a boarder of some country. His daughter Sara is being hush hush about it, only to state she’ll keep everyone posted as things progress. Also, his strain mothers are alive in various countries, so there is no chance it will affect his breeding programs, at least in the long run.

His daughter is being smart. No need to proliferate possible evidence against him on the internet 😉

Fwiw, in her message to me, she wrote "there has been a situation with shanti and law enforcement and I am trying to figure out the seriousness of it."

It would be strange to be at a border just because the EU has free movement.....

But idk. Gosh I hope it can be resolved with minimal additional suffering.....

Honestly that was assumed based on where he normally operates and his social media but idk.

If it was the US, i would be surprised. We are like, a toxic biohazard atm. Getting in and out seems a trial. I know he has operations in washington but the tenor of a recent post about it did not make it sound like he was there.
His latest insta post....

Edit: the washington post mentioned....i guess MAYBE he was there......

God willing that's it and he broke quarantine rules upon his return or something similarly inane.....probably wishful thinking but i shall wish.

All this Shanti talk prompted me to go back and find my MNS "Ortega" grow, back in 2013 back on RIU.......... It was a mixed grow with a bunch of other stuff too. Here's the Ortega, cut at day 64 with a nice fruity smell. I didn't do a smoke report so I can't comment on much more that I have, but got 8-9 oz total from these total.

My thread said I had a couple of those plants, and got 8 or 9 oz I think. That does look like a couple of tops though.

I've said it before, if you are looking for an interesting strain with some N.L. in it, look at Dinafem's "Industrial Plant"- a monster yielder with some old time genetics in it but expect a long flowering period.

Forgot to mention that Ortega was also used to make Black Domina, which is why I tried it.

Someone reached out from RIU, who was recently banned there. While trying to figure out why, I saw this- 3 out of 6 Ethos strains hermied for this guy.

its a cookies 6 pack

cotton candy x mandarin cookies no herm
blueberry cookies x mandarin cookies. herm
cherry garseeya from its own 6 pack herm
crescendo no herm
mandarin cookies v1 herm
cherry berry no herm

I’ve told you all before the Mandarin carries the hermie trait. Just expect them to if you grow them.

Yeah. The one from MNS is NL1 x NL5. I won an auction to get a pack for like thirty bucks if and when I can complete an order.

I have a lot going on, and wanted to catch everyone up with updates, etc.............

1. Expert Seeds notified they sent out some freebies today and I should have them shortly. These will be given away in a short term contest of some sort during this grow. Stay tuned.

2. Ethos Genetics hermies........... we've touched on this numerous times, I wanted to be clearer. It's the Mandarin Sunset genetics that carries the hermie trait and any hybrid made with it will often show hermies. Still though, they use it in a lot of things for a reason- it's a nice strain.

3. HPS vs. LED's.............. next crop, I'll turn off the LED's in veg and raise them to the ceiling temporarily and hang the 600 watt HPS from the hooks where the UV-B currently are. These should be plenty strong for the 4 X 4 ft areas for veg. and I expect a way better earlty growth performance. The LED's are using 645 watts each, the HPS would use 600 watts each. If nothing else, when the plants get large enough, I'll just remove the HPS and switch back to the LED's in veg or the start of flowering. I told everyone in the orange gasm thread, this was to be expected and it just seems pretty obvious the right move at this point. I may run the LED's with the HPS in weeks 3-4 maybe, depending on the heat build up in the room.

4. We discussed the VPD chart earlier in the thread. What is VPD you may ask- Vapour-pressure deficit, or VPD, is the difference (deficit) between the amount of moisture in the air and how much moisture the air can hold when it is saturated. If you refer back to the posted chart, it states the ideal humidity for a grow room kept at 81 degrees would be 75% or so. A little high for me I'm thinking, but what occured to me it would render the Phresh filter (smell control) useless as Phresh recommends the room humidity no higher than 60-65% for the filters to work properly.

5. The Phresh Filter will be installed this week, I promised the wife. I'll pace it along the back wall but still figuring out what's the best way to hang it. I don't want to use toggle bolts thru the drywall as the 37 lb filter may weigh too much for that. I'll have to drill into the joints and screw in some heavy duty hooks I'm thinking. Then go from there.......

6. I told everyone i got the Botanicare Silica, WRONG. I ended up getting this one instead.
