I found that as well my 1 plant under the Se3000 gave me more & bigger harder buds than her sisters under my 1000w hps.....I'm a long time hps fan and I'm old....I'm not akin to liking this new fancy crap but gees proof in front of me says WOW ....
Is it the effectiveness of the LED footprint? Do the buds positioned directly under HPS match the LEDs and get thinner moving out? Amazing nuggets of info Db!! Harvest at end of light cycle bc terps at max. Also fan of bugsbee suggested dry/cure. I appreciate people who are good at what they do but continuously look to get better!
No the HID side is pretty even too, it's really just the overall course of development that is different. As soon as I switched to flower I could tell the LED side went almost immediately Generative and started building budsets and leaf growth slowed down, whereas the HID side seemed to continue growing Vegetatively longer into flower, produced more leaf matter and the buds were slower to set, and smaller. Overall plant mass between both sides of the room is probably about equal, but the LED side seems to be proportionally heavier with buds.

Its definitely a good sign the led lights perform as well if not better from a guy like Db but sheeeeeeeiiT he can grow in a beer can with a fridge light and blow the doors of most people.I dunno if it’s just me and my love for old school but the hps side looks like thicker buds to me but like I said I just don’t wanna believe u will never take my hps
I'm a just an old hack that has learned more here in 2 years from guys like Db than 20+ yrs with hps on my own and I got better results as well even though I fried my leaves @ 4 wks in flower.......I'll get better and so will the King of the Palace.

LEDs are more reliable. It's not the diodes that have the problem, its the power supplies. They make them just strong enough to run the light and it should be built for 20% over.
i started to take my chinese light apart, i bet one of the drivers are fucked and thats why half bloom LEDs work.....

Diodes either work or they don't. They don't break down because there are no moving parts.
It's about 10-12" from the canopy now. Was having a conversation with my buddy yesterday that uses both DEHPS and fluence LED and he was saying that he is able to get the 650w bar type lights down to within 6" of the canopy. Much closer than quantum boards. Figured what the hell and dropped it an inch. Definitely watching it closely. He said if it's too close I'll see a tuft of stigmas develop at the apex of the terminal buds. If I see that after a few days, raise it a little.
that's exactly what i was thinking. however, he has a point. i have six qb's and they're not to be fucked with. these things are like nitrous in a built v8. a hell of a lot of power in a compact package. kinda wish they weren't so powerful because it really fucks with the penetration imo. really hard to dial light levels as this run is proving. could see where the bars are much more forgiving and likely significantly better as a result.
maybe SF has put a hacksaw in place too make experienced growers like yourself walk down between 6 plants in their final stages to showcase how the plants that are growing under the Samsung diodes are looking? im just saying you know. lol!
