So, popped 5 beans out of 20 from Balochistan. Out of those, culled a male and ended up with two really nice females who are in week 3 of veg. They are showing some deficiencies, but will dial it once I get to know them better.

I popped the other 15 and had 💯 % germination. Now to pheno hunt these.

The project, and end goal, is to take all of them and run an open pollination to preserve them, as well as all the genetic diversity.

will post more on the topic later…

Forgot to mention to take a look at how big the fan leaves are…

Very nice! I plan to do something similar with Zanjeer in early 2022 so Im following along to see how yours goes.

Whats your setup like?

Right on man.. love landraces.

currently have a 2x4 for veg /clones/ seedlings etc two mars hydro 600’s

a 5x5 I use for vegging, training etc and a Mars Hydro TS2000

A 4x8 will be going up as soon as these seedlings are hardened off a bit. About a week or two. Since it’s an open pollination, and just to see how these plants naturally grow, I will be using 2 gallon or 3 gallon (not sure yet), and just going straight to 12/12 as soon as I can.

I’m looking in a method that involves taking the males, and placing them in a separate tent, and collect all their pollen together and selectively pollinate certain females that don’t show intersex traits, mutations etc. Khalifa Genetics has an article on, super interesting.

Im also debating another method that may add a few weeks to the entire process, but can hopefully begin to eliminate the phenos that herm.

Basically, I’d take a few cuts of ever single plant, to make sure I have at least one good clone rooted and a few weeks in the lag.. label everything and take the original moms once everything is rooted and looking good in veg.. and flower them..

I have a stress test process I put all breeding moms through, and from there i can cull the clones from the phenos that show intersex traits etc.. take the clones from the best of the bunch, males included.. and re-run as another open pollination, but with phenos chosen for stronger traits.. then just release the original pollination as an open pollination without a selection process..

Without selectively choosing the best, maybe the genetic diversity is better. Not sure which route I’m going to go.. but definitely pumped..

check out my Instagram, a lot more will be on there as well..

That is quite the endevour that I can only hope to aspire too. My plan is much simpler, flower all the seeds, inspect daily cull hermaphrodites entirely. My plan is not nearly as rigorous and doesnt involve stress testing. I am excited to see how yours goes!

Stoked.. Had 100% germination on these..

15 for 15 - as well as two other really nice looking females I have from an earlier germination. I’ll post pics..

Well, two plants or 200. Small or large grow, doesn’t matter.. as long as you enjoy the process and enjoy what you do and smoke it and use it as medicine for the body mind and soul. Your plants will grow with you over the years based on your efforts and selections..

and thanks for following, I look forward to seeing your grow as well..

Update on the Balochistan #4 Preservation Run.

Two seedlings didn’t make it, “Only The 💪 survive”, but the rest are looking good.
Pheno 1 & 2, the ones started a few weeks earlier at still showing deficiencies, and I can’t pinpoint it. not to much in side branching, and leaves are real

Being a landrace, it’s possible that it won’t need nearly as much in the way of nutrients as modern day hybrids. So these will go on 1/4 strength.

As far as the approach for the actual preservation run, I’m leaning towards cloning and stress testing. Basically, take 2 or three clones of each pheno, root em and flower the original parent plant from seed.

put the plants through a full veg and grow, as well as a stress test and then cull out anything that shows intersex tendencies, as well as mutated or plants not showing good healthy growth.

once stressed tested, all clones of the phenos that will be kept, both male and female, will be put into flower, and utilized for the final preservation run.

Doing this will loose some of the genetic diversity, but when dealing with a smaller batch of seeds, like 20… I would not be able to do a large scale proper open pollination. Doing it this way will ensure I still keep all the qualities of the landrace genetics, as well as make sure the seeds produced will be of good quality.

Doing it this way as well will allow me to harvest dry and cure each female pheno, and utilize this selection process to choose at least two distinct breeder females. As well as a good breeder male. I will be able to smoke it, make bubble hash, rosin, edibles and get a clear idea of the terpene profile.

Following, my friends and I want to get a pack or two of these. They look neat and one of the descriptions is, "Impending feelings of doom" lol.

I didn’t get the best of pics. But there where a few phenos with a deep red/magenta tone and the male had nice red flowers and a good structure.

They grew well indoors and are very tolerant with heat.

I topped once, and they grew to a good size with a nice even side branching. I’m going to go through the stock eventually now that I have a bigger batch made, and look for a keeper female or two. These should make a good start for an heirloom project. 😎

Def a nice quick onset to a very racey high. Then settles to a more relaxed high after like 20 or 30 mins 💪
