Could I use two home Depot buckets and do the same thing that way

No you would not be able to replicate the wicking system. It’s channeled into pot and you pack soil in the corners and they are the wick.

That’s about how big mine were after 5 weeks or so, only about 5” tall. I topped ‘em, the LST a bit. Slowing going for me too!

day 32 (yesterday)
3 new nodes after topping and she’s growing in secondary branches and i’m now starting LST. this plant has survived under and overwatering, being dropped and crushed. And still going strong
