We have some issues with your plants bud.
You are keeping those awfully saturated.
Crazy wet.
Can you take afingernail and scrap that white stuff off the leaves?
Also, you have stowaway varmints in there?

I think the clay he is refeering too is the expanded clay pebbles visible on top of the substrate, also known as arlite. I use them too is better than perlite for oxigenation! And I put a bunch on the bottom too so I have an inside drainage system in the pot.Well, did you find any critters? Check the soil using a fork to disturb the dirt?
Clay is no bueno. That will cut of vital air the roots need to thrive (air, dirt with readily available nitrition and proper stauration ensure anhappy feed which leads to better wet dry cycles.
You want a soil that is peat based with skme pine needles blended in, with perlite.
There are many brands tha offer that mix ready to pot fox farms happy frog,
Fertilome ultimate poting soil is what i swear by.
And also did any of that white funk come off the Leaves when you rub or scape the leaf surface?

Other than that yes to everything, listen to this guy because he knows a fucking ton, he will get your plants going in no time if you listen to him and give the info he is asking for.
