Hello farmers and happy "Day after Christmas"!!!

Today is day 61 since the 12/12 light change on my very first attempt at growing.

The strain is "Deathstar" and i was told to expect between 10 and 12 weeks for flowering. This coming Saturday will be the last day of week 9.

I am confused by the trichomes. The buds just really started to "puff up" about 2 weeks ago. I am seeing a lot of amber trichomes on the leaves, but the buds still look (to me) like there is still a lot of clear. But I will admit that I am not 100% on where I am even supposed to be looking...

From reading here, I will try to answer the "usual questions".

STRAIN: Deathstar
POT SIZE: 5 gal fabric
SOIL: FFHF
NUTRIENTS: FF trio, about 50% strength (after I previously over fed)
LIGHT: Mars FC3000 EVO. 300w
TENT: 39x39" with 4" AC infinity fan/filter with two oscillating fans.
TEMP: Max 78 and lows in the low to mid 60's at night

Based on the expected timelines, I am expecting to run another week or two, but i wanted to ask the experts. I stumbled along this far, so I would like to avoid any more screw ups if possible!

I tried to take good pics, but i suck at that too! LOL

Thank you for any advice or suggestions to help me get this poor girl across the finish line!

Kind of difficult to tell as I need a closer look at the trichomes but I would say you are about 20% amber. I try to hit about 50% amber.

Dude that stuff looks awesome! When checking the trichomes for maturity and all you want to look at the buds! Not the sugar leaves coming out of the buds, as the trichomes on the sugar leaves mature sooner than the bud trichomes and that being your true indicator.

Mostly cloudy, amber trichs are probably getting direct light. You are getting close buddy, your patience will be rewarded.

OK, so today is day 63 since light change. After work yesterday, I checked on her before lights out and was freaked out to see that most of the fan leaves wilted/turned yellow/are drying up. I can't lose her after all of this time and being this close to the finish line!

Yesterday morning I watered with just RO water (PH @ 6.5) - no nutrients or anything. I am wondering if this is a sign that I needed more bloom food, and when I watered with no nutrients, it just sucked the remaining out of the fan leaves?

Should I water again and give her a little bit to eat? Am I close enough to the end to just leave her be and let her finish?

Any advice or suggestions, even if it's just to tell me to settle the fuck down and let her be for a little bit.

I have her clone in the veg tent and she will be ready to go right after I chop an dry this one (assuming I get to that point) - I am excited to get another shot at growing out the "same" plant, as I have learned so much already with this first grow, but I really want to get this girl to the finish line successfully if it's not too late.

Light output is at 60% now and 30" above the canopy. Temps have remained in the mid 70's during lights on and mid 60's with lights off. Rain came in last night and I am fighting humidity right now, tent is reading 52%.

I do have an ACI T3 humidifier coming this afternoon to make sure I can keep levels where they need to be during the hang and dry. I will be shopping for a dehumidifier this afternoon as well.

I'm all ears if anyone has suggestion and/or any advice.

Well.....Day 65 since light change and after work I went to check on the status of my first attempted grow and..... Ugh. It appears that my landing is turning into a crash and burn.

The fan leaves are basically all shriveled up and......they gone! I tried to pull some of them out of the buds, but they are still firmly attached. The small leaves on the buds are all still green, but I am worried that now that the fan leaves have left the building, they will be the next victims?

I tried to look at the trichomes with my loupe, but that was not helping me. (I am ordering one of those wifi microscopes tonight) To my eye, I think that there are still a bunch of clear on the buds, but then again, I don't know WTF I'm doing. :-)

I was told that this strain will go 10 to maybe 12 weeks and today was "day 2" of week 10.

So I am humbly asking for any advice you all are willing to provide.


Here are my questions.

Is it even worth letting her continue to go?
If I do keep pushing her through, will the "juice be worth the squeeze"?
Do I just chop her now before there are zero fan leaves left and start the drying process?

I am trying to limp her to the finish line but I am hoping that some of you fine folks can tell me if it is worth it to keep trying with her.

Normally I would for sure keep trying to the end, even if I end up tossing it all but my wife has some medical things happening right now and a pretty big surgery on Thursday. So I don't want to waste what little time I will have on a plant that is destined to fail.

Either way, I have learned a ton over these past couple of months and the experience is far from a waste, regardless of the end product. Her clone will be ready to flower when the time is right, and I feel that I have a much better grasp on things and I've been treating her like a queen compared to what I have put her mother through!

Nice job, looks like you gave her some love,
Heres a pic of my grow, i hope she goes for at least three more weeks before finishing, i stressed her early, i was at war with gnats, its my first grow

if the leaves went that bad from day 63 to day 65 i'd say root problems. but i'm just learning myself.
i'd chop before anything gets worse.

My plants are doing the same thing right now! They have amber trichomes on the sugar leaves and now white in the bud’s trichomes. Im checking them twice a day at his point lol. But who knows they could stay up for another week, as long as they dont start doing anything weird.

I think you could let her ride a couple more days. Maybe some others with a more experienced eye than mine will chime in.

My high ass missed this part hahaha! Don’t get rid of her. You could chop that right now, dry it, and cure it and ill bet it would be some rocking buds : )

I hope your wife is doing ok and has a great surgery (that sounds weird but its better than good in my opinion when one is talking about surgery)

If you cut that plant down today, I’m positive it will give you kickass smoke. If that’s your first grow, well done 👍

LOL, well that makes me feel a little better. Maybe I can just watch to make sure that the "leaf shriveling up and drying up" does not progress to the buds, and if/when it does, just chop. It's frustrating because looking back, I see a lot of the mistakes that I made....but I am just sitting here helplessly waiting.

This poor plant looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree at this point!

I would harvest it. Those leaves are crispy, buds will be next.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've got my big ass "choppers" up in the grow room, and the plan is to bring her down just before lights come on in the morning, and then hang her up.

I appreciate the well wishes for the Mrs. too, will take all of those that we can get! 🙏

Well, her stalk has been chopped and she is hanging upside down in the tent. Queens conditions are 67 degrees and 60% humidity. I will be watching closely to dial in the numbers for the next week or two.

I was a little surprised that after cutting her down she got super loud. My wife got out of the shower this morning and said "your girl stinks today!" LOL
