Creek behind my house is a Ontario tributary up here we’re above a dam so we got bass and crappie up top then below the dam is the trout salmon / steelhead runs people Come to this dam from FAR away for the runs, cops stay at the parking lot, youre fishin shoulder to shoulder, cross a line and a fight breaks out, fuckin huge fish come up
I'm pretty sure I know this dam. Is it a shear wall with a railing starting about 20' above the water on one side and flat shale about 2' above water on the other side? If so I used to go there. It was a short hike (couple hundred yards maybe) from parking to the dam. You dragged your 3 salmon limit out of there, you didn't carry them (30-40lb ea). We used to snag them with weighted treble hooks, which I think is no longer legal. It was right at harvest time for that killer NY skunk. Great times for sure...

Mmm morning train riders.
Today I would like to comment on my local library. They have embraced ebooks for many years but the focus was never on things I wanted to read. I do mostly hard science fiction but I also like some of the mass produced this will be fun if you don't criticize the technology and science part of the books.
They have this new search feature for the last year where you can see what is available as in print but not available at the library. It has a button for " notify me when in ".

Well as it turns out they are using this to order books. I have hit notify me on about a dozen Warhammer 40k books and this has resulted in at least 24 books being available as new. These Games Workshop books average about $20 a pop and as vision issues make e-readers mandatory for me I really appreciate this. Saves me loads of money for sure.
I have also hit notify me on 3 cannabis growing books that they can put in but nothing so far.

My son and I played the table top 40k game for years but that was also years ago. still have models

And this kids is why I live in California and never moved back to Ohio. Right there.
Until the next big earthquake🤣

Lived here all my 66 years and felt some good ones. Back in the late 80's I was in the hallway when the Northridge quake hit and I took a few steps into the bedroom and hopped on the bed and road it out like I was surfing🤣 The last one was a few weeks ago. You could hear it before the ground shook. It was a short one though.

We only have one fault here and it runs underneath the lakebed. Okay, one active fault at this time until the San Andreas spouts off and awakens ancient demons. That fault is capable of producing a 4.0 or less. All of our earthquakes sound like a jacked up 4-x rolling past the house from the front to the back. You can feel it vibrate under your feet but there no shaking. And they’re only about a second long.

When that damn skunk hit back on the late 70's it was the SHIT! And then I watched it disappear over the next several years. Then the berries and grape flavors arrived but the skunk was no where to be found😭 I'm still waiting for it to come back😉
I’m not a big berry fan but I love that grape taste from a good GDP. That’s another one I need to run.

Well I'm bout to batton down the hatches.

The weather shifted and got real sticky so decided to check the weather app.

That's a MEAN ass hook echo in Kentucky heading my way.

@Mikedin and @cpurola prob know how to read a velocity product from a radar. Blue circle is radar location, Red circle, well theres like 260 mph of gate to gate shear and a debris ball going up about 4000ft in there. 😳

View attachment 2435211

Basically that means there is with absolute certainty a massive ass tornado on the ground in that red circle. There are particles and debris, circulating there well in excess of 200mph, and there's debris high enough in the atmosphere to be read on Doppler radar.

Green means reflective surfaces are moving towards radar, red means away. See how tiny and intense that one little spot is? Yea, that's a particularly violent tornado, happening right this very second. A small dot of red that intense, perpendicular to radar location directly against green that dark. in this context means very bad joo joo
So, how's you doing? Everything OK or are you not in Kansas anymore? (yes I know it's Tennessee but that doesnt fit the line).

Hope all is well😘

Growing up in Toledo we saw Tornados. At age around 6 my dad dragged me on top of the roof to see the one that came down the Anthony Wayne Trail. It was huge even from a mile away.

Fast forward say 13 years. 2 buds of mine and myself drive up the river to Weir rapids for fishing. Weather turned bad and we left for home.
While driving down the Anthony Wayne Trail we noticed oncoming traffic turning around and stopping under overpassed. My bud bro don suddenly shrieks out TORNADO!
Sure enough a 1/2 mile behind a tornado was pacing the AWT. Bouncing up and down and across the road is a little tiny F zero tornado about 30 yards across. Just a tiny one so I decide to pull off at an overpass to watch it.
This thing got closer and closer but it was so weak it was not even picking up debris. It went passed the bridge part of the overpass and started down the north bound lane of the AWT. At the bottom of the ramp was a merge sigh. It went right over it and the thing shook back and forth but not like it was going to pull out of the ground barely a foot back and forth.
So that's the setup. We watched this thing for 10 minutes. It Got no bigger. It's in the road a 100 yards away moving away.
Yes I did. I pushed the loud pedal on my 74 Monte Carlo and drove through a tornado. By the time we got to the thing I was doing 60mph at least. When we went through other than a slight pressure in the ears and the sound of sand on the paint it was about the most lamest when I was young story ending I tell but the fact that I drove through a tornado sure sounds awesome.
Buddy #1 did not talk the entire rest of the drive home and the other one would not shut up about driving through a tornado.
