Hi folks, really hoping for some advice. My very first 'in ground' plant seems more than ready? the situation is I have an 8 wk old photo who is currently vegging with my flowering autos (she's HUGE) and I had already run out of tent space at 4 weeks into the grow 😵‍💫

I'm thinking that since we have almost 15 hrs of daylight here in Michigan and pretty nice temp-wise---it's time to at least get her outside and acclimated (and then into the ground)

For the last 4 days I've been adding dark time.....autos are on 19/5 and the photo is now getting 17/7.....plan to try and match the outdoor light if I can.

#1) How fast can I add each hour?
#2) Can she go out (and stay out) and bo ok---not go into flower too early?

My primary concern is---once out there, I don't want her to come back in and risk the other 4 flowering autos.....I'm kind of stumped. She's really heavy already---in a 5 gallon cloth pot----and I'm a gal and the grow room is in the basement. I really need to get moving, lol.....just want to make sure I don't screw it up !

Thanks very much for any insight !
PS
She is in this cluster of plants (as big as the 11 wk old autos ! 😬) SORRY FOR THE BLURPLE.....I have had to use every single light I have here to try and cover all the plants. Tent is only a 3x3 and the photo was a surprise seed I found wrapped in a Christmas napkin. No idea what she is (Calling her Jingles) 🧑🏻‍🎄

I had my plants on an indoor 20/4 lights off at 0000 and on at 0400. I didnt adjust anything before I tossed them out. I had even thought about it and asked around here : ) general consensus is letter rip!

some strains can start to flower with as much light as 14 hours. I think you would be fine but id look into your strain and its characteristics: )

Just realized you dont know the strain lol! I still think it’s ok. But you might put a light over it for an hour just to be sure. It would suck to have it start flowering and then it re veg and the flower again. I havent done this personally but i know it would take time to correct and that’s precious veg time for the plant.

Yeah, it looks like it’s time! Kick them outside!😁 you’re good on daylight!

Yeah......it would def. suck (I have experience with that one---her flowers were freaking WEIRD) but oddly aromatic. Anyway! I'd like to avoid it here and should be able to---because what you just said there gives me a feeling of relief. Thanks! if you transitioned that quickly, I obviously am over thinking with my initial plan of trying to match nature. Super excited to grow an in-ground plant. I always love watching everyone's in the grow thread (usually lurk tho) thanks again !

Are you sure you want to plant it in the ground? Only reason i say that is your stuck once it's there and won't be able to change locations in flower like to move it under cover during rain? I don't want to discourage you if it's what you really want to do but if it's only one and your counting on it, i'd put it in a grow bag 15-20gal it's pretty big now go larger if you can. I drag 15gal pots in flower into a patio or my green house.

maybe someone can chime in, in regards to getting a light over it for a certain amount of time before the sun goes down or comes up? Our areas and lay of the land are all so different from one another here : ) i just don’t want your plant to herm!

Just add something like a flood light bulb in a chicken brooder fixture(for the convenient clip). Have it set for 6 hrs on. 2 hours before sunset and 4 hours after. Should put you in the sweet spot to avoid early flowering. I prefer adding light in the evening because the natural morning Sunrise is very beneficial. ( Don't ask me why)

Yeah ! this is the first year I don't have a greenhouse. I had one of those portable pop-ups (finally degraded last year & now they want 3 times what I paid). I totally forgot about this aspect, Galgrows....and at the end of my last 2 outdoor auto grows I battled powder mildew. Just did her 2nd foliar neem today hoping to toughen her up.

Maybe I will give a giant grow bag some thought.....she's in this 5 gallon now so I'm thinking I better decide? roots starting to pop out of the bottom already. Hmmmmm.

Thanks for these ideas ! totally agree on the morning light and I picked a spot that gets about 3 hrs or so (and then another 5 or so late day). It's a GREAT spot. But.....galgrows has a point. I'm visualizing 7 days of rain in flower right now 😬

I went straight from the tent to my garden last Sunday. No hardening or anything and it’s doing great. Tent was on 18/6. I think you’re good to go.
Awesome....I'm feeling relieved about the tent space now (well except for the height 🤪)!
Thanks you guys n gals.....I'll update the thread when the deed is done. MUCH APPRECIATED ! 💜

I'll watch for this....like I said, no idea about strain and around that timeframe (the holidays) we had visitors bringing goodies...I just don't remember tucking the seed away (but I always do if I find one). Don't you think it's Indica looking? I do and most of the dispensary strains I buy are hybrids (that lean Indica). The sooner I get it out there though--the more time I'll have if the reveg sneaks in there. Fingers crossed it doesn't !

So chucky is our resident outdoor naturalist and realist!🤣 he makes a good point with length of day coming up LOL! But keep an eye on it for good measure, especially if it hasn’t show its sex!

It does have the broader looking indica looking leaf, it’s no doubt 100% some hybrid of sorts : ) are you hoping for a indica leaning strain? Looks awesome either way! I’ll bet it rock’n rolls once you get it outside! 🤩✌🏻

A minimum 14 hour day is generally considered safe time to put plants outside, but not for all strains. I have a Grape Pie that started transitioning on me and nothing went out until we were 14+. Only had an issue with that one strain. If your South of the 35th Parallel in the northern hemisphere, probably not a good outdoor plant for you.

I know the feeling. I’ve had a black sugar in my tent since middle of December. It’s just about done maybe 1 more week. I have two autos and a clone waiting in the starter tent. I really want to dry in my tent this run so they’re going to have to wait a few weeks. I have the ac infinity AI controller but haven’t tried the AI feature yet so I’m itching to get the new plants in there and test that out.

👇👇That's a 7 gal bag mine are indica hybrids easy to move around. The black plastic ones are 15gal i bought myself a hand truck/dolly to move them around when need now. Those were last summer grow.

@Galgrows did ya use all the water on just the 4 plants?? Or is that a special brown species of hay for a lawn!!!
Plants look awesome 👊🏼

Not really, kinda hoping for something with a little lift.....been consuming too much OG as of late. Not only that but I've just discovered how different terpenes affect my mood in different ways !

That's why this round I have 5 autos ( I harvested the purple kush a few days ago, so 4 still going) and all 5 are different strains. I'm gonna try and keep a journal and hone down on those specific terpenes that are beneficial to my mood/mind/perspective etc 😜

I definitely "feel" a difference when the flower is organic....I buy organics at the dispensary I like. The problem there has been sporadic availability. Also, is it just me or is a 'proper cure' all of a sudden unnecessary? doesn't seem like anything I've received lately has been cured much (if at all) ?

Yeah, this is very borderline as I'm for sure South of 45th, definitely not idea conditions here. But, I've done 2 outdoor runs here in Michigan with good results (3 really cause I did 2 runs one year). That said, I really battle bugs, mold & mildew. The last outdoor battle was tough which is how I ended up w/ a tent. Now that I've used a tent? I want to go back outdoors! 🤣

I also get very emotionally attached to my plants.....I'm going to really think it through today and order a 20 gallon cloth pot (about how much soil I can mix w/ current amendments)----- or figure out a way that I can protect a plant in the ground.

If I can't do the latter---I'll do the former. Hey, how did your grape pie turn out in the end?

WOW!
Very nice set-up there, Gal.....love the wide open expanse you have there. No tree branch trimming necessary for you, lol. Beautiful plants, too 🍀

I do have a hand truck, I have access to any landscaping containers I need (all the way up the scale) my friend works at a landscaping place. If I don't go in the ground, I at least want to get the biggest I can move if necessary. I've never had a monster plant. I've always had so many limits....I know, I know.....size doesn't matter 😹 but still. This is an experiment of sorts.

She grew (again) overnight, so I need to tackle this in the next couple days. I'm currently brainstorming. I'm giving myself until this afternoon and if I can't get a greenhouse or something....I'll order a 20 gallon cloth pot.

Oh Newb.....I can SO relate!

Having different plants in so many different stages has been super challenging for me (and the height differences 😳) I've pushed, banged, shoved these lights around so much trying to accommodate each plant right. It's a miracle they all still work. Especially the blurple panels, lol. Probably doesn't help that I have a touch of OCD lol

I'm intrigued w/ your controller.....I have lights/fan on a timer, but it'd sure be nice to incorporate the humidifier/dehumidifier adjustments into the mix. I've found AC products to be really nice. I'm using the AC Infinity self-watering pot bases (for the first time) this run and I am beyond impressed !

Good luck with your grow ! off to look up what the "Black Sugar" strain is all about.......😜
