Okay thank you. I’ve got a lot to learn. I didn’t check ph on pellets. But I did wash them off. I still don’t really understand the ppm thing. I’ve tried watching videos on it and just really doesn’t go into my head. I’ve sprayed the top of my coco now with some ph’d water. Should I do that every day or actually water the full pot

So, here is my take on your grow so far. For starters your pots are too big for early stage of development. I usually start my seedlings in a red solo cup. The next thing is I would water only when your plants are thirsty. To tell when they are needing water insert your finger in soil to the first knuckle, if you feel moisture don’t water.

Hey cottygrower I see a lot of guys chimed in a bit early making recommendations before your media and nutrition was mentioned.
Seems to be happening a lot lately.
Stanknkatz has it correct. You are going to need to feed your coco at least daily and the big fact is that they do better with multiple fertigations daily.
This does not mean start pouring nutes and water in the pot. It means you need to read and process how to grow in coco to be a grower in coco.
I would like to touch on a couple of other things that new growers sometimes miss.
Coco also needs a prep to be effective growing cannabis. Coco is inert and holds very few nutrients. The type of coco you purchased is important for later in the grow.
If you can post the bag of coco you used that would be great. We need to know if the coco was pre buffered and soaked with cal-mag before putting it into use.
The very few nutrients that coco tends to hold onto are magnesium and calcium and these need to be added back into the coco or supplemented with your nutrition. Even soaking will not normally last the whole grow but if it was not soaked by the time you get it to about 3rd or 4th node level it will prolly go tiger striped and start with the rusted pinholes.
Now.
If you read up on coco and it does not sink in you can run coco with just a pH pen but you will have to be able to identify hot nute and lack of nute presentations ( how it looks ) in your grow and adjust the nutrition mix.
If this is something you can not do ( do not want to learn ) there are other ways to grow cannabis that are less technical or rely on experience that you will grow into but do not yet have.

Thank you I found this very helpful. What is the easiest way to grow weed for a beginner. I want nice smokable buds. Not bothered about it being top shelf. I’m doing this to help save me money in future. Also really starting to fall in love with growing. It’s just so complicated at times. I’ll do another post this week explaining everything I’ve used. So in future you will all be able to work out where I’ve gone wrong. Thank you all tho for you advice. It’s a lot to take in right now but I will figure this shiiit out.

Ok I want you to find your grow style.
See those 3 horizontal bars up top of the page? Hit that and navigate to the forums section and look around for grow diaries. Once you are in grow diaries use the spyglass to tag jeywords look up organic growing , fox farms, and organic nutrients. This will populate grow diaries and you can see how long and how much work it will take you.
Then search for living soil and build a soil. Again see how living soil is made and see how all you do is add water.
Both these methods will require minimal tools and as long as you can measure and follow directions you should do well.

I have used 20l fabric pots. I used about 2.5l of pebbles in each pot. I didn’t do anything to the coco before starting. But I washed the pebbles (did not check ph) then put my seeds in some water for about 18/24 hours till they popped. Now running my light at about 40% (think it’s a 320w light) it’s 2ft away from the plants. Cycle is 18/6. Running my humidifier at 65/70%. Temp with lights on is around 23’c to 25’c lights off drops to around 18’c/19’c. I’ve used a very diluted mix of grow nutrients. The same I mentioned before. Only feeding them when they dry out. Also spraying the top layer of coco every 2 days to stop it drying out.

Is there anything else you would suggest for maybe next time. My first grow in coco was meh. I got a good amount of buds and it got me pretty high whilst tasting good too. I just really want to fatten the buds for this one and have the biggest yield I possibly can for 2 plants.

Ecothrive Coco Lite is pre buffered, so that helps. You're still most likely going to need cal mag in the future, so take that under advisement. You also are going to need a good ph/EC meter. I know it can be confusing, but after a bit you'll understand what ppms are and how to handle it if you stick with it and are willing to learn.
This page may shed even more light on your situation, seedlings in coco. You should take a look at the page on high frequency fertigation in coco also.

Understanding ppm is easier than you might think. As stated, it means parts per million. So, with your ppm reader (pen) you find out your ppm reading with the water on its own. Then when you add nutrients to the water, you again read the ppm. If you subtract what the original reading was, that's how much nutrients are in the water.

For example:
original reading of 100 ppm
add nutrients and reading of 560 ppm
subtract the 100 and you get 460 ppm.
This means you have 460 parts per million of nutrients in your water. There's lots of information on your nutrient suppliers' websites (or sometimes right on the package) as to what ppm they suggest at various points in the grow cycle. If your reading is too high, add more water. If your reading is too low, add a bit more nutrients. Then check again. And remember to pH adjust after mixing all the nutrients.

Hope this helps a bit, and if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. Also, if I'm not totally correct on this, anyone else reading PLEASE correct me...so we don't have two of us making a silly mistake!

It is correct as far as it goes.
In a large part of the country ppm of tap water can be high as 400 ppm. Some of this can be needed nutrients but are locked up in a form that is not useful in an organic grow but should be counted in a salt chemical nutrition grow.

Imo ( what that's worth ) if you have a ppm of tap over 200 I would have either the local water company numbers or get a water test.
I sent out testing on my water before and after the descaler and was recommended to get an RO filter due to the composition.

@Merkle hope you have a good Christmas and everyone else. I’d like to show you some updates of the babies. One is turning slight yellow on the inside of the leaves at the top. Not sure what can cause this. All the rest look healthy I think. They have gone back to normal colour now almost, just wondering what could have caused it. I’m using advanced nutrients sensi coco grow (beginners mixture) but added small amounts of cal mag b52 and voodoo to every watering

Are u feeding them the same ratio, ? the smaller plant might be overfeed.

Pictures are reversed? Anyway which ever plant it is 1 is shorter ether under or over feed.

Yeah same ratio. The one on the left (smaller one) has always been behind the one on the right. But I feed them both the same

Perfect thank you @WinJr63. They are currently on week 4 of veg. Do you have any tips for when is best to change into 12/12. I’d normally flip the lights when the plants are roughly 1/4 of the size of my tent in height. Just wondering if you recommend any other way to tell when

You can flip lights anytime, I took my plant to 12 week, did some serious training, now at week 6 flowering.

More growth More cola sites.
