If anyone’s ever in the Buffalo area ya gotta try this place, great stuff
The state of New Hampshire controls all liquor sales through state owned and run liquor stores. NH is also tax free, we only have a room and board, and prepared meals tax . That and property taxes that are some of the highest in the nation. That being said tax free liquor is a huge draw from all of the surrounding states and Canadian provinces. So much so, that the FBI started recording out of state license plates at some of the liquor stores, and built cases with the IRS against certain individuals who were just trying to save a few bucks.Could you imagine passing the same law about lettuce? Food?
There are some states out west were buying a new car out of state and bringing it into the state gets sales taxes.
Governments.
If you took the meme that way you should have spoken out about it. I did not see it as such. Celebrities are neither below nor above me as are anyone else such as athletes or anybody within our current culture or community BUT, I don't give a shit what they have to say. Why does the news report it like it matters BUT, only and always one side, the approvided side? The double standard is off the fucking charts and Americans are tired of all of it. Remember Cancel Culture?Fair enough. I’ll bow out after this because it’s basically impossible to talk about this topic (or any topic nowadays for that matter) without politics creeping in, and I agree that that’s not what this place is for.
My comment may have brushed the line, but it wasn’t partisan in substance or intent — it was a response to a meme that was already political-by-proxy (that you happen to agree with and said nothing about).
And I’ll say this plainly: the meme that kicked it off wasn’t “non-political” either. It was basically:
That’s not “no politics.” That’s politics with a muzzle — and it’s loaded with resentment and dehumanizing language. The whole “marionettes” framing is arrogant as hell. These are human beings, not puppets put here for your or anybody else's personal entertainment.
- “Celebrities are beneath us.”
- “They’re not citizens in the same way.”
- “They should be silent.”
And you’re also confused about who the commodity is. You think they’re the commodity and that you personally “own” them for the price of a ticket — or worse, for nothing — just because you like their tribe, team, or brand. You don’t seem to realize that you are the commodity. You get bought, sold, and sold out every day by the same fucking machine you think you’re standing above — the exact same way celebrities do.
Also, your opening point was a non sequitur. “I’d get fired at work for talking politics” is a workplace-policy argument — not a free-speech argument — and it doesn’t translate cleanly to public figures anyway. Celebrities get punished constantly: sponsors drop them, contracts vanish, tours get boycotted, careers stall, and millions of people hate them on principle. So let’s not pretend they get some magical exemption from consequences.
My point was simpler: entertainers are still people. Citizens. They don’t lose their right to speak just because they sing, act, or throw a football for a living. There is no “unless you’re famous” footnote.
And if someone doesn’t like what an entertainer says, the solution is easy: don’t watch, don’t listen, don’t buy tickets, don’t stream them. Nobody is being held hostage by a microphone or a football. Attention is optional.
And as for blaming celebrities for “what’s wrong with society” — it’s lazy. They’re an easy target. Most of them aren’t built for conflict, and they’re not out here looking for fights. That puts them at an automatic disadvantage in these pile-ons right out of the gate.
Then your reply immediately turned into personal insults and politically charged culture-war stuff that had nothing whatsoever to do with my original point. Which is exactly the problem with this topic: one side gets to rant, and the other side gets told to shut up “because rules.”
We do a (mostly self-moderated) no-politics rule here, and I’m fine with that — but it should apply evenly.
And news flash plumber- you're not a mod; fuck, you're not even a supporter; you're just a self appointed judge, jury and executioner. I've noticed that you’re always real quick to call out anything you personally read as “left-leaning,” while letting subtle and overt right-leaning shit slide. And you usually do it by replying with your own political rants (like the one I'm replying to now) that are impossible to answer without breaking the same rule — so your point “wins” by default. That’s not “no politics.” That’s controlling the conversation by weaponizing the rules.
Also; you have no right to flame and cuss me or anybody else in open chat, that's also against the rules you claim to cherish so much. If you are that unhappy with a post, there are both report and ignore buttons. Or better yet, an unemotional nudge saying "yo man, rules; remember?", or even better yet, a dm vs. calling people out in open chat.
I’ll own my part: I should’ve kept it tighter and not fed the fire. So I’m done with this topic and I’m not replying again — not because I can’t, but because I’m not interested in turning a grow forum into a screaming match.
I am curious though... So the media, the interweb, schools & celebs are all evil, no nothing, brainwashing cock suckers... just who exactly are the “approved” people we’re supposed to listen to and get informed by?
Like, where are these magical truth-dispensing entities that are allowed to have opinions — and how do we know they’re not “brainwashing” too?
Back to grows....
Anyway… anybody else’s plants praying today?

Went out for some Greek food first lol
In 75 a lid was about the same in NW Indy for good stuff, still had seeds but it was good for the time. But hell I couldn’t afford that then I had to settle for nickels and joints. I remember in 76 or 77 I bought my first quarter and I thought I was the shit! $100 was a fuck ton o cash for me back then. And I had a job. It didn’t pay shit pay but it was money.I bought pot from the street from 1979
Almost always left the header on my stolen memes. If you took the meme that way you should have spoken out about it. I did not see it as such. I personally was silentlenced from Twitter and Facebook - several times each and am not currently on either. Why is my voice and many others who agree with me silennced while others can talk all the bullshit and lies they want, in front of a microphone and always fed and backed up by the approved media group think. When a MAJORITY of Americans do not want to hear it.
As for @JIMKSI64 meme(s) they're rarely overtly political and imho make ya think Common Sense. We are so very tired of being told we're wrong, we're racist (in 96 & 2000 I supported Alan Keys, smartest man I ever had the privilege to speak with) or homophobic (for years back in the 90's I'd have my gay neighbor over for Thanksgiving dinner, his mom disowned him, and many other dinners durning our decade as neighbors) and now today we're being called Nazis and FACISTS, etc. This is reported from every MSM news room daily, many times word for word and is nothing more than propaganda.
The Farm and many other hobby sites were just like it, one sided, the "approved" side, Free Speach be damned. So that's why I DARE speak out today, even without a title or paying a fee
And that's why places like this are not a place for politics as politics divide, unlike the purpose of this site: to be helpful to one another, to show off what we're doing and how we're doing it to inspire and help others to be successful growers. Politics pit the ideologies one hold against each other - JUST LIKE RELIGION which every mod and supporter should really follow
So, if you feel I or anyone posts a meme overtly political or religious please speak up. Unfortunately I'm afraid Jim is no longer posting memes and I understand but I will miss them and I honestly use to wonder where he was stealing them from![]()
I don’t really care for celebrities much. Most are obnoxious but you can’t really group everyone together. The same with athletes majority are assholes. In the 90s I delivered pizza to a Phoenix cardinals player’s house and a bunch of the team was hanging out together. They all thought I looked like Jake Plummer and had some other players come out and they were calling me Plummer. They were cool and repeat customers. When I would arrive I would be greeted with Plummer! If you took the meme that way you should have spoken out about it. I did not see it as such.
