thanks for the feedback. i'm actually using non buffered coco just a washed 70/30 mix. nutrient wise i used the flora series from gen hydro and ease into the 6 part once i flip the lights. haha the third plant, or plants i should say, that i said i messed up by my own doing was actually because i bought buffered coco and didn't realize it and kept feeding it my gen hydro stuff. ended up throwin a few seedlings out before i figured it out

Youre growing in coco and doing it soil style and there's nothing wrong with that per se... You can treat coco as a soil or as a hydro and how you are doing your watering as well as how you prepare the medium are the key differences. You dropped your seedling in a big pot... That was committing to a soil style. If you wanted to use it as a hydro you want a small pot that gets watered frequently and dries up quick.

Because you're in a big pot you treat it and do your watering as if it was in the ground. You're watering around the drip line of the plant to encourage roots to grow away from the plant. You're not watering to runoff. Just enough to properly moisten the expected root exploration zone. If you water to runoff It makes the medium too wet and takes too long to dry back without a root system in there.

Things to watch for: You shouldn't need to worry about salt buildup because you've got enough medium to absorb it if you are watering right and not overfeeding. Since you are in coco and allowing it to go through wet and dry states, keep an eye out that the coco doesn't start displacing cal and mag. Even if it's buffered, that just buys you some time before you have to start managing it.

Looks like you're in good shape, and probably intuitively know how to avoid the big landmines.

I appears he is doing the hydro type grow as he is using the flora series which is salt based if its the flora treo. Does not commit to soil if in big pot just makes it a challange to water/feed properly unless I missed something.

i was feeling like i could be. when i wait 3 days to water the plant never seems to mind or be struggling but i water anyways cause i feel like its been too long. i gave it a watering today ill try giving it a bit more time before the next one and see what happens
