Got spider mites. What I've done and what to do next.

I thought the same thing when someone told me to burn everything. I wasted a year, lost $2K in elite genetics I have never been able to replace, all the time, effort, electric, insecticides, etc.. Wish I had listened.
It's often hard to know which advice is the best advice, and it's even harder until we have enough experience to choose the advice that best applies to the growing methods we use.

Spider mites are nasty little beasts, and they can drive a grower crazy. Even so, I've never accepted that we needed to choose the nuclear option to get rid of them. What's important, as I see it, is to detect them early and hit them hard with everything we've got. That's what I did. I think I had them at least under control, then I tried GrowSafe. I didn't know if it would work, but I sure as Hell don't mind having another tool in my toolbox to fight them. So, it was worth it to me to try it.

I can report that I still have not seen any signs of new spider mite damage. One plant died from the stress of me cutting off the worst of the infestation. Its few buds, though immature, were surprisingly potent and flavorful. The other plant in that tent was harvested a few days ago and is in the drying tent now. The third plant in a different tent is stretching and I expect to see buds soon.

I battled the Borg for years until I came up with l.p. No9.which is 25% isopropyl alcohol,1% tea tree oil,2% dish soap,72% tap water.(all measurements are approximate)
Apply via high pressure spray to the underside of leaves, 3 times at 3 day intervals.
Caveat....if you must use it late into flower it can effect bud terpene quality.

I spotted spider mites on one of my two plants in my 2x2 tent. I know they're spider mites because I've seen them before. They were on one plant, mostly just above the lollipop and on the side of the plant closest to the other plant. The plants are sativa. It's the 5th week of flowering.

This is what I did.

I cut out all the leaves that had signs of spider mite damage. Then I cut an additional 6 to 8 inches of plant around the area where I saw them. I made sure to create space between the two plants. I bagged the leaves and put them in the outside garbage.
I sprayed everywhere with a 1:1 mix of water to 3% H2O2, including the underside of the leaves. I also sprayed the other tent that has a small vegging plant in it. Then I sprayed the floor and my shoes.
I washed my clothes, and I took a shower. Then I sprayed the tent again.
I increased the humidity setting for the tent from 51% to 55%.

Now I'm thinking about what to do next. I'm worried that I might have hurt the small vegging plant because its top is bent over, but I sure don't want an infestation of spider mites. I understand they need to be treated aggressively.

Today, I'll probably keep spraying H2O2 every few hours. My wife doesn't want to use anything that might harm her cats or us humans. One of the cats loves to eat cannabis leaves. I can keep the cats out of the room, though, and the room has a window. I'm also worried about the buds.

I have some Neem, Spinosad and no-pest strips. I'd sure appreciate any other ideas.
Hi Love, I found bugs on my plants, once, when I thought I would mix nice dark black soil from my back yard in with my loomy Roots Organics soil to enrich it. I enriched it with bugs! I found that once you have bugs in your grow room you can’t get rid of them without throwing away plants and soil, power wash the bags for bug eggs/larva, and start a new grow. - halboy

Growers ally crop defender 3 kills them on contact and is safe for flower. May be of use to others.

Ive been combining spray in the shower, growers ally, and de. I recently have wrapped tape on the stalk sticky side out. Seeing if this could be another way to trap them. Happy Growing.

IPM. Integrated Pest Management.

Unless you can keep your grow tent(s) sterile you need to use an IPM.

I grow outside and in greenhouses so I have bugs, ALWAYS. I cannot eliminate them but I can control their numbers.

I spray something weekly. My go to in veg is neem oil. It gets a bad rep for its smell but has a half life of 1.5 days and won't hurt anything after 3 days. ORMI rated organic.

Jack's Dead Bug is used in flower alternated with BT. Again, both are OMRI rated.

Yeah, I don't want to spray my plants with ANYTHING, EVER but reality is if I don't spray the bugs will take over. From aphids to spider mites to bud worms, I refuse to grow for the bugs.

Oh 100 percent. IPM is a must. I made the mistake of skipping a spray. Slipped my mind lol
