gosh>>sorry melvan you dont have to be so mean:giggle

gtd

Maybe it's because my friend is visiting.

Melvan is a combination of my first name and my last name. Plus, I like the idea of people thinking I'm a short, balding accountant in a cheap suit. :)

I finished trimming what was left in the drying room today and set it to cure. I got 20 grams of "baggable" bud and another 14 of smaller stuff, all Hog. That puts me at 9.4 oz of good bud off 4 plants, average is 2.35 per plant. Got a lot of nice trim to add to the butter box too. Not bad for a 400hps.

I still have the Kushberry Skunk & NL/WW, they're at Day 60, both will go between day 65-68.

As I took no pics of the buds today, here's a nice pic of some of my kitties for your viewing pleasure.

I don't understand what you use to give to people.

Attached is a pic of the Kushberry Skunk about day 25. Like I've said before, she's got the whole package, great structure, healthy grower, wonderful smell and flavor, puts on good weight, weak buzz.

This is the last go around of her, and only because my friend likes her. I'm going to let her go 35% amber this time before I cut her, see if that helps the buzz any. I do have one rooted cutting of her, just in case I hit the right level of amber to make her worth growing, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Harvested Kushberry Skunk

Day 64 and she was ready. This is the furthest amber I've ever let her go, about 35%, and I can see a change in her. Alot of that floral scent has become fruitier and there's a mild skunk under tone that wasn't there before. I'm hoping this will translate into a little stronger smoke than previous grows.

The skunk #1 parent really only contributed strong, vigorous growth to my pheno. She's a fast, bushy vegger, and can be ready to flower a week before my other girls. She's very tolerant of changes in her environment, handles being closer to the light like a skunk strain, you can put her off her nutes a bit and not have her react.

Now there's nothing in my flower room. Eeeeek! I'm going on Friday to pick up all my new equipment. Many exciting changes in the works for my grow, so stay tuned!

Harvest complete

I just finished trimming the Kushberry Skunk and getting her put up to cure. I'm out of empty jars so I put her up in 2.5 cup tupperware containers. Had a nice smooth burning joint off her. I let her hang for 7 days total in a cold room (day time 60, night time 50) with just a fan blowing. Drying her nice and slow really has improved her buzz.

I ended up with 1.7 of "baggable" bud, another 20 g of smaller buds.
On the NL/WW I pulled 1.2 baggable, another 17 of smaller bud

I have 2.9oz of salad in the butter box. Lots of nice buds in there too. Sometimes they don't make it to the butter, they make it to the bowl instead, you know how it goes.

All total on 6 plants I took about 15.5 usable bud, average of 2.58 per plant, mostly thanks to the Skunk OG18's excellent yields. If you're sitting on your free beans of her I would suggest popping them.

I'll be starting all over here in the next few days with unrooted cuttings. I figure the set back in the nursery will put my next harvest off by 2 weeks. If I had got the plants in as planned Day 60 for the new grow would have been 4/20, now Day 60 will be 5/6. That's based on a week to root the new cuttings and 6 weeks of veg.

I'll probably shorten that time and start with Hog and Skunk OG18 which finish day 50-52. Another perk of knowing your pheno is being able to schedule your grow.

All pics are Kushberry Skunk.

Went and got first set of cuttings

Went to my buddy's place today and took the first set of cuttings. I got both my Skunk Sleestack phenos, Skunk OG18, Northern Light/White Widow, Kushberry Skunk, and Indicas XXL. I have 30 total.

The 2 trays on the left are Skunk Sleestack my buddy cut about 5 days ago. He gave them to me today to help give me a jump start. None are showing root yet, but he only uses the rooting foams, no cloning gel. His take a little longer to root, but he has good skills and high success when he cuts, so I'm sure they'll show root soon.

Tuesday I'm going over to my other buddy's place, I'll be able to replace the rest of my strains from his grow.

I still have what's left of 8 of the 12 mothers under the 400. They're not showing any new damage, so that's a good sign. If I can get them revived I'll transplant them into the big buckets and flower them.

All planned upgrades are on hold until I get my plant situation under control.

I just realized that I never posted here the disaster in my nursery. We had a 2 day power outage, no light, freezing temps, needless to say, all of my rooted cuttings died and my mothers were near it. I'm going to all my friend's that grow cuts from my plants and replacing my strains and getting the cuts I need to root for outdoor growers.

Sorry for Your Loss

Sounds like you're getting everything back, you'll like the 600 your footprint spreads as well as your penetration into the canopy for little $. I've added my 400 back into the fold for 1000 cheaper with less heat. Good Luck Mel

600 is about my limit in the space due to height limitations. I couldn't do a 1000 as I wouldn't be able to raise the light high enough to keep them from getting heat stress. I also don't have the space to keep the 400 in there too, wish I did.

I do have 2 2' 4 bulb T5s mounted on the left and right walls for side lighting, I don't see any reason not to keep them when I add the 600

Took Drastic Measures Today

So this is what I decided to do.

First, I let my outdoor growing friends know that I’m not going to be able help them right now and to start germing seeds. I just can’t worry about them when my own grow isn’t under control.

The mothers haven't been showing any additional damage and I can see where tiny new leaves are just starting to work there way out after 5 days under the 400. All of them lost all the leaves on their bottoms halves.

I re-potted them all today. I did a root trim to about 6” square, all had very strong root bases. I kept only the healthiest branch of each plant attached to the root base and cut away all the others. I prepped the part of the stem that had lost all its leaves like it was a cutting, using Clonex, and replanted into the ½ gallon buckets, burying the stem to the point where the green leaves start. I used only water today. When I start feeding I’ll start with ¼ strength Earth Juice Grow and up it to full veg feed over the next 4 waterings. Tomorrow the light will be lowered to the proper level, still getting them use to the intensity after only being under the T5. I've been lowering it a bit each day since I put them in.

The way I figure it, those strong root bases will do better trying to make a small recovery than trying to work with a plant 12” tall that’s half dead. I have at least a month, maybe more, before any of the 30 cuttings will be ready for full veg, so I might as well fool around with the ½ dead mothers and see what I can accomplish. If I can get them going again I’ll go ahead and flower them and start new mothers from the cuttings.

Wish me luck, I’ll keep you posted.

The Northern Light White Widow Cross (Spiney Girl)

:evilgrin0040: Man thats a nice plant sir; i'm especially impressed by the way you describe the high. Im hoping to cross something very much like it. which leads me to ask this question; It seems to me a lot of the strains that are crossed (the good ones anyway) theyve all been crossed NL; I mean im no genus and i haven't done my homework but im betting that it would be a better plant to start crossing with first? Am i wrong Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Melvin; GROWS COMING BACK I SEE

Where do you see airy bud? Where do you see any bud? The plants in the last pic are cut back mothers that almost died due to a power outage, there's no bud on them. Hell, there's barely any leaf on them.

I hate SCROG, done it, don't enjoy it. I know all about keeping an even canopy, my supply closet is filled with wood, ice cream buckets, coffee cans, etc. all different heights just to make sure my plants are always in an even canopy.

When she's in the sweet spot of the room she's great, anywhere else she's a slacker.

Honestly, I think NL is used so much because it's such an available genetic, just like the WW. Many have done this same breeding very common. On another forum I follow a gj for a guy who grows nothing but different breeder's versions of White Widow, that's how popular it is.

I think you should cross whatever you want, except any plant that has shown any sign of hermie or who's cuttings have hermied, and just have fun. Pick a few strains you like, with one special female, and breed different branches of her with different males. You just can't believe the fun of searching and finding that pheno personal to you, even in a breeding as common as NL/WW.
