500 years ago, people thought the world was flat.

In 40 years, people are gonna be reading these forums and laughing their asses off at some of the stupid shit that "we're" doing..........doesn't mean we don't know how to grow, just means that the "art" of growing isn't as advanced as it's gonna be 40 years from now.

You see a lot of faux scientists/academics on pot boards spouting off at the mouth; for my money, I'd put my money on Jorge and his 20 year old methods to grow circles around those eggheads............just me.

EDIT: exactly what Trusmoker said..........

Well I dont feel you can necessarily super-charge a grower from day 1

My .02
Giddeon:harvest:

yes you can --i did with my lil brother in-law -while i never touched a plant all the knowledge and know-how i spoon fed him has a grower of 8 months pulling 1gpw[and going for 1.5 gpw] [virtually out of the gate 2nd grow] ----in general there is a 3-4 year learning curve when it comes to not knowing dick to yielding bomb ass crops:harvest::harvest:

The guy has put his neck out there to help other growers get started, you can't say that isn't admirable. I haven't read his bible but have seen his vids and he handles everything from a mainstream standpoint which is what you have to do on that large of a scale. Another author that is worth taking a look at if you're new to the scene is Greg Green, he wrote "The Cannabis Grow Bible" and it's decent as well. Once you are growing you will become an expert in one or two areas and your knowledge will surpass any of these entry-level works, that's what the farm is for.

OK i agree you can spoon feed someone info and have them producing weight of bomb as long as the teacher isn't a total idiot, and has done this themselves. What you cant teach though is the 3-4 years of experimenting and experiencing problems and successes in your room and working out these problems fixing what is wrong and learning truly why something is done, not just do this because someone has told me too. So yeah you can have someone following blindly who is growing good product, then there is the "super-charged grower" who knows what to do if and when a problem arises because he/she has been in that situation or one similar and had to dig out their own ass.

True knowledge only comes with failure and experience.

I like Jorge. Did more for me than most ever did and I only watched a video or two. Jorge I am gonna smoke one for ya!

I see it like most here wrote. Seems to cover the basics well and once your published it is not so easy to make corrections to past works as they become antiquated. Not as simple as making an edit on a forum.

Back seat drivers!

The best books are where they show differenet palnts leaves and tell you what the defiency is. Other than that, they make a great coffee table book!

here is the issue with him. this comes from SKH aka Sunk a friend on another forum as this just came up when someone posted links to his dvd's on this other site.

"in regards to things cervantes has gotten wrong...

IMO Cervantes scours the internet waiting to jump on the latest trend to base a new book around. For example he based one book on a Dutch Passion article that he took out of context to convince people that they could get a higher female ratio by tweaking their environment.

another questionable article of his flew in the face of conventional thinking when he, alongside some shady outfit i forget the name of, declared that sulphur deficiency starts in the older larger leaves first and mimics exactly a nitrogen deficiency. again a mass of confusion over this issue ensued. conventional wisdom tells us that as Sulphur is a slow moving nutrient that there isn't time to get the sulphur to the new growth so it will always show deficiency in the younger, newer growth first.

those are just two i can pick out... but both of those things were the basis for writing new books. Cervantes doesn't care what he says, he just cares about figuring out how he can make more money from doing nothing. "

Id say the most useful info came from searches.
And i usually dont take one persons word , do more research and look for similar answers from different growers.

ive seen alot of his videos, and sometimes i cant help but to wonder if he knows what hes talking about.
he's overrated by alot.
i know before i grew i recognised his face from hightimes so i assumed he must know what hes saying.

but many skilled growers have taught otherwise.

Believe it or not, weed didn't use to be legal to grow :confused0054:

He used the wig/shades to create the Jorge Cervantes persona to avoid backlash against his George Van Patten books.
