I see what you mean. construct the three walls and caulk everything when you do the door put a plywood on the inside, smaller than the door and use weather stripping:

make yourself a flap out of 2 or 3 pieces of aluminum tape.

works to seal up all the seams too, and allows for cleaner breakdown compared to caulk.

cusick i tried making a flap with Gorellia tape its like duct tape but stronger seems to still let alot of light out. The main concern is having guests see the light.

With my luck the plants wont last more then another few days. The leafs look like almost they breaking off maybe due to heat burn or somethin. the ph still reads 8.6 eventhough i put the ph down (top fin brand from pet smart in)

I am gonna make a trip to the hydro store this weekend to get some proper ph down.

If it's at 8.6 I'd swap out the reservoir until you can get the pH under control.

pet store pH adjust has very limited buffering capacity.. quite a bit different from concentrated phosphoric for ferted plants.

does the box need to look completely normal from the outside or are we just talking not casting any residual orange light into a room that would be noticed as odd? cause if it needs to be true stealth then there is more reason to invest time & energy into getting it right. otherwise you should just be looking for the simplest&cheapest solution to having it light-tight.

i'll be happy to take a picture of the aluminum tape framejob & flaps we do on boxes tomorrow.

Guano i can't really change the resovoir because how can i get the ph down? my spring wtaer starts at about 7 or so. Im using DNF grow and bloom A&B through out the grow.

Would love to see your flaps. I think im being misunderstood. IM using an actual closet not a box so there is a door which i would like to look like just a normal closet.

When i close it eventhough i put some duct tape there is alot of light leaks.

more importantly is the health of the plants right now then the light issue.

Yeah I am understanding you better now.. I hardly ever think of actual closets for growing anymore even though I did that for 2 years. :)

The tape flap job we use now is definitely not for stealthy applications, and is probably partially similar to what you initially tried with the ape-tape.

basically the idea is just adding some depth to the frame that the door will close on... but it's not really 100% unless you also have external flaps, to serve as a final barrier for the bit of light that seeps through the semi-flexible tape.

you'll need a stiff inner frame with weather stripping, like HISSH recommends, I think.
for the bottom of your door, i'd recommend just putting down a 1x2 or a similar barrier. just make sure ya don't trip headlong into your box and come down on the whole works :D

as far as the little ones go.. they may yellow and die off gradually from the bottom up, but that's just because they're unable to uptake any nutes for the timebeing. even in plain water.. they shouldn't totally die, they'll just grow weaker and more disease-prone as time goes on.

so just get out there and grab some real pH down.. the sooner the better.

i spoke to a MMJ member this morning over the phone and he told me that the product i told him about top pin ph decrease has the exact same ingredients as the hydro shop ph down so maybe its my ph tester that is out of whack. I guess i will look into the weather stripping to seal it better thats what i was originally thinking. In a few minutes ill take some updated pics.

the first few pics you can see the cracking off the leaves im talking about also the yellowing plant is the 2nd pic

the website lists the ingredients as sodium bisulfate, i would guess you can check on your bottle what is in there.
GH pHdown is phosphoric acid, which is quite a bit different..

the plants look like they are managing alright, the new growth is potentially a better sign of the health than the old. I guess you will have to figure out what will work best with the ferts you have chosen.. might need some calibration fluid if you have reason to believe your meter is off.

Hey guys what would you suggest i use to make a drain hole at the bottom of my resiovir its too flimsy and dangerous to be moving with water in it around electircal stuff.

Maybe get another bin like you used & pre-drill a hole for a drain. You'll have to empty the other res by hand w/a cup or maybe a WetVac.I think hererisssh has one, wonder how he empties his. :thinking
Good luck

you could consider using an external pump.

magdrives can be plumbed this way, though some places don't advise it due to leak reports. you can also try getting away with a cheapie fluid transfer pump from an automotive supplier.
Otherwise throw down $50-$70 on an eheim and have yourself a great tool on hand for all kinds of fluid transfers in your future. :nerd

How are the little ones doin ?

and i should add after about 1.5 days the ph jumps back to about 8.2 and stays there.

Here is more pics

You need to adjust it on a daily basis to keep it at the proper levels.
