Just saying most problems in dwc come from hot water and the ph being off if you have both of those right it’s almost impossible to fail.

If it really is algae which I doubt it’s inside the bucket on the roots highly but assuming I’m wrong they sell black painters plastic at hd by the roll for dirt cheap just wrap your buckets in that.

Since you’re already kind of stuck though I would do it by hand for the next couple days and go build an rdwc system on the side and transfer all those plants into it seeing how all you have to do is hold the lid up.
