Suggestions for a 5 ton AC unit?

John made some good suggestions for a/c's. Have you considered a chiller system for air conditioning? There are outdoor units and indoor units just like with air conditioning, the difference is that you would pass water in between instead. If power is expensive then you might want to think about...

    8"air cooled hoods

Doesn't sound stupid at all. You don't mention how long your ducting is but it doesnt sound like you are running it very far. I personally would go with (2) 10 max-fans running three rows of lights and put them on a fan speed controller....set to about 80%. Using one fan may be a hassle trying...

Aqua quest 1 HP Titanium Aquarium Water Chiller

Sounds like you need to lengthen the cycle time of the chiller by adding more water to the system. What res size are you running now? I would probably suggest at least 50-75 gallons . This will help alot, your chiller will be on longer but it will also be off longer, it will stop short cycling...

No I don't believe the differential can be changed on that chiller. You could always do away with the controllers it has completely and replace it with a ranco controller. It wouldn't beep and you can control the diff, but would certainly void your warranty. To increase the differential you...

There is a max flow rate as well and with 5400 gallons you may be over it. Contact sunlight supply in vancouver washington, maybe send an email to customer service. You could simply ask them how to get rid of the beep and see what they say.

BTW I hope that you noticed the flow rate for that chiller, its pretty high. To get maximum efficiency you need to be in that suggested flow rate, I think its 1200 GPH. If you fix the beep please let me know what you did. I'm curious!

    water cooled gardens

Well that makes more sense lol. I have seen his posts in the past but not lately. I understand your reasons for not going water-cooled and most of them make sense to me. But however about the energy efficiency I just can't agree. Chillking can get 3 tons of cooling and a 6000 GPH pump to run...

The air flows out the side the controller is on....I'm 95% sure. Beep happens on every cycle, not sure how to kill it. Surely the buzzer is located on the circuit board inside the chiller, maybe you can put some tape there. Its pretty easy to get inside by taking off the top panel.

No problem at all, I think that you will be really happy with that eco commercial. I forgot to mention another plus is that it is really quiet for a chiller that size. The only thing I don't like about them is there is a beep when it starts up. Not loud but completely unnecessary, I told them...

Its all about btu per watt when it comes to efficiency, doesn't matter what type of refrigerant that it uses. All chillers and a/c's will have lower performance at higher ambient temperatures, its harder for them to exchange heat. I personally would focus more on the btu output and energy usage...

Anyone use an Evaporative cooler/Swamp cooler ?

I would go with a 18,000 btu unit, its more than you need but it won't hurt. If you only needed a 8,000 btu unit but bought a 18,000 btu unit it wouldn't actually use more power overall. It will use more amps when running but the run time will be less. I wouldn't buy anything smaller than a...

Anyone use an Evaporative cooler/Swamp cooler ?

Good point, I have personally never used one. Its really humid here so they don't work well at all.

Your right any chiller can and will fail...redundancy is always a smart move. Yes sunlight supply puts their name on the imported eco plus commercial, which happens with almost any company selling chillers in the US. I think that chillking and aqualogic are the only chillers exclusively made in...

Probably going to output somewhere around 8,000 BTU, that's pretty common with chinese chillers. Usuallly its printed on the box. Panasonic does make a good compressor at least. Before you buy consider the eco plus commercial 1hp, its a really good chiller for the $. Only the commercial unit...

    I Need Some additional cooling

No problem. There isn't really a maximum distance for the tubing, as long as you have a valve on the manifold to adjust flow to each port as needed. You'll also need to upsize your pump the further you are away, consider that uphill is more of a load on the pump than horizontal distance...

    What's your cooling setup?

Unless you are air cooling your lights your not even close with 10 tons. Will the ballast be in the room? Are they 1000 watt? (50) 1000 watt lights would create 200,000 BTU, far below the capacity of the 120,000 BTU (10 ton) a/c's. You need a 20 ton, or (2) 10 tons, or (5) 5 tons. Needing that...

I've never heard of it. Most chinese chillers are built by just a couple of companies, they just get different housings and names. Just make sure you get a warranty with it, and you might also check the box to see if it lists btu's, that will be important.

Anyone use an Evaporative cooler/Swamp cooler ?

I would say go for it. As long as it doesn't raise your humidity above 50% I can't see you would have any problems with anything. I wouldn't blow it directly on the plants though.
