thanks for the responses everyone. I have been able to lower the temps a few degrees by scrubbing the air rather than exhausting it. although i do feel i need to exhaust something. so i might use a 6in fan, hook it up to a smaller filter and turn it on only at night just to exhaust stale air...

Im thinking of ditching the portable ac because yea, its shit. and putting in a big window unit. mini split isn't really an option here. as far as i know. im not to knowledgeable about them. don't they have a fairly large unit on the outside of the room?
