You’ve really got to hand it to today’s app developers as just when you’ve decided all gaps in the market have gone, they’ll find another and fill it. Tinder did a pretty good job of helping mobile-types hook up with new and ‘interesting’ people from their local vicinities, but about the world’s ever-growing pot-smoking community for whom a different set of dating rules applies?

The answer, it seems, is a new app by the name of ‘High There’.

Taking the basic principles of the standard dating app and running with them, High There helps pull together possible matches no just on the fact a person smokes weed, but how and to what extent they toke. If for example you’re the type that prefers bong hits to vaporizers, you’ll be matched with those who like the way you do things.

Perhaps more importantly, the app also ensures that those who essentially like to play inanimate couch potato after a smoke are not linked with those who seem to get an uncontrollable burst of energy after a hit and prefer to go buck-wild.

Upon announcing the app’s launch, Todd Mitchem said he was inspired to create something different after a date of his own went horribly wrong when his counterpart discovered he was a weed smoker.

“We wanted to build a cool piece of technology that solved the problem of where do million and millions of cannabis consumers go to meet people, connect with people and build relationships,” said the High There CEO.

“A lot of people say we’re the Tinder of weed, but that’s only one facet of the whole thing. It’s so much bigger.”

In spite of the recent legalization of cannabis in Washington State and Colorado, the subject of marijuana is still seen by much of the population as something to be swept under the rug and ignored. Nevertheless, weed smoking communities are growing is size and influence practically by the day, paving the way for other more focuses apps and services like High There.

The Android version of the app is already up for grabs – Apple’s iOS version will follow shortly.
