I hear you on the lumens, but I think that there is something to the whole light spectrum thing.

If I had more room, I'd do the seperate bulbs.

Maybe a verticle column of 2 cool tubes? Start em out with just the 400mh on in the bottom tube, then slowly transition on the upper 1k hps with dimmable ballasts. Hmmm? :thinking

This may be the dawn of something of a solution to the veg stage in the mpb, combined with a helper on the whole lumen shock issue.:rauch08:

Maybe after a run or two with these, I will work on that upgrade.

Yeah gotta love the dimmable ballasts to reduce lumen shock all my 1ks are dimmable. I am also running bare bulbs so I just need to keep the cords off the bulbs where stacked but end to end they will be fairly close so the 4 -1k- 4 pattern in the middle shouldn't take up too much room I'm hoping.

Update time

Time for an update.
Almost have the MPB room there, but the summer is coming hot and heavy, and has made me shift my attention to enclosing the equipment room to keep it cool. At the same time, I am knocking out the new veg and mom room.

Nice work man, talk about starting a grow diary from the very first step. I like how you're keeping everything in the single garage bay.

Thanks there, guys. More updates should be coming over this weekend.

ElViejo, the veg room is just being framed. It is that last pic.

jakeW215, glad that I got the creative juices flowing.
Now if we could just get over the norcal/socal thing. I personally don't care, and I think that it is the individual farmer, not the area. Although I will give it to the social climate up north. It is more accepted, that's for sure.
Welcome aboard!

hahaha, your totally right my man, its all the farmer. im just proud of where i live and where i grew up i guess. Ive never been bitter to so cal whatsoever, havent spent enough time down there to really judge anything anyways.

And yes you really cant beat the emerald triangle climate. Although where im from its 110+ on the reg. (narrows down where i live if you know nor cal) My friends still never seem to have a problem outdoors, just water every day. feed once a week.

Edit: social climate - im an idiot.

i wish i could do both indoor and out. ahhh enough with the rant!

keep the updates coming im excited to see progress. thanks for the wealth of info.

Fuck me...........you've gotta be shitting me.

Not the grandest scale setup I've ever seen but the attention to detail and craftsmanship is almost unbelieveable.

Unreal job dude.

Man $10,000 is a huge investment TF, but it's obviously going to be worth it. Maybe one day I'll have the skill, foresight, and not to mention money to make my own private garden of eden too. In the meantime, I'll watch and learn.

Update time

Thanks guys,
been busy figuring out everything I want to put in the walls, before they get closed up. Got drywall scheduled for next weekend, and I gotta be 100% ready to go by then.
So the veg room and lounge (I mean equipment room), are all wired up for work and play.

I added some air ducting as well before everything got closed up.

And a little bonus. A ventilator with a motorized flap door. Good for when it might be a little smokey.

A little recessed lighting (yes it's on a dimmer, no it's not for growing)

A little video camera and computer cable left, and then I am ready to seal it up.

Super sick setup TF! Always an inspiration everytime I read this thread... Just wondering how you anchor your sill plates to the concrete floor, looks like nails into concrete? Is there a nondestructive option? :wondering I've got a post-tensioned foundation and would prefer not to drill and epoxy anchor bolts...

Thanks Shady. I just used tap con screws to anchor. I think that it is a maybe a 3/16 hole that you have to drill out for that.

I appreciate the response TF... Got to get off my ass and make some progress after watching you put together a bad ass setup... I'm standing in my garage right now and it would be the best place for me to upgrade. First I need to figure out how to add a new electrical sub panel cuz I'm already tapped out in the bedroom above... :itwasntme

such a perfect setup. I really like that you are busting your ass and not just rushing to get plants in there. A perfect example of a room done right and perfect too might i add.

So what is up with that fan? it has a hatch on it is what im thinking? or is it a filter?

I really like how it drains outside too. Do you think you should add green lights into those dimmable fixtures? Would be cool to go in at lights off.

Shady,
Glad I could provide some inspiration. Let me know if you need any pointers on the electric.

Freshsteppin. Thanks for stopping by.
I will have to check that out. You have a thread or log?

Edux, thanks man. The recessed lights are in the "lounge". That just has my equipment, as it is in between the 2 chambers. No green light required. The fan has motorized flaps above that only open when it turns on. I plan on adding some filters on the bottom side.
