i use to clean my catfish by putting them on a board, then nail their head. and a pair of needle nose pliers and pull that skin back off.

catfish do taste good if cooked right.

the problem with catfish is a problem with all river fish, its the muddy taste :-) Pike, bass, perch eel, everything I had from a river taste like earth

I love catfish. Most anyone who has ate it after I fry it loves it too. I was on a family trip when I was about 17 , we were in Arkansas and we had dinner at a local place that had the best fish I had ever tried. I talked with the cook and he said the secret was to soak them in milk overnight before cooking and i have di it for over 30 years now and even made fish eaters from those who said they didn't like fish.

Thanks dude. Yep I watched the Paul stamets podcast. I want a fucking mushroom hat. I have grown a few mushrooms in my younger days and am interested in trying to grow some edible/medicinal fungi either indoors or in my backyard/greenhouse. Indeed I have heard about the lions mane and others. Hats off to you for producing your own medicine.

I try to do my own as getting things delivered here is like saying...hi I live on mars, can you send me a thing...typically it just means my P&P charges are double the price of whatever i am trying to buy and often it just makes things non economical. rather than be deterred by costs, i just go see what I can make similar or the same.

The other thing I make lots of is my own skin care products. from soap to moisturizers and or creams and salves to help injury, cuts, abrasions, strains and worse.

I like flowers for this, things like Calendula which are easy as shit to grow, easy to dry, easy to put in oil and so easy to use. I try where i can to avoid any shop cosmetics. I am lucky here tho. I have access to books in Russian and so on, old old, that helped me rediscover medical plants growing all around me.

I make my own Redbull type of drink, using malic acid naturally fermented from common weeds growing here everywhere. I try to live without needing to consume from sources that dont care about me or the planet, but its fucking tough and requires lots of efforts on days when effort seem the hardest :) I have made lots of mistakes and lots of mess in my life :) Sometimes tho, things work just the way the book said and its good to go

They do this with all animals... If an animal fights or runs it builds lactic acid.... The milk neutralizes the acid... Thats the only way to do deer... Milk bath

With wild game meat a good controlled hang time is my main concern. Two or three weeks at 38-39 degrees and you won’t need that milk bath!
It’s the reason I built my own walk in cooler...!

yes they do a lot of meat in earth pits mate. People here are still really poor relatively. Many of the ovens here are still powered by wood and they have set times to eat. You cant wake up an hope a place will feed you, if its not oven on time, you dont get food, well unless you can tolerate another sandwich or tapas.

we eat catfish here,we eat all fish more or less. I have a plate of Boquerones en vinagre almost every day

You could talk fat about many fish anyway so its not like its exclusive to catfish. Just think how much fat is in a prawn and people eat them fuckers like they are pelicans
that was always my thing on the commercail market, the fat peels right away from the back bone, every living animal has to have fat go try to buy a half side of beef without fat,it will be no good same with tuna, got to be just right fat content in the meat ,to cure or what ever

if its bocking14 it wont seed buddy, but you can literally split the plant, same as you do many flowers and plant types at the root, then grow these on from there. Wait until your plants are established, then just take a shovel/ spade and half the plant for two cut down vertically, you know the score, lots of plants use this root crown clone method. You will see when you study the plant, it grows in bunches. easy just do it as the plant begins to regrow in the spring. i find this works best. You can remove a plant, split a few at the crown, re plant these, and take the rest for a root salve mate.

Bocking14 is sterile so wont seed. if you have the version that seeds, its a fucking pain mate, it can really take over quickly
