check this little sucker out. at 1st i thought it was a pistil, but i don't think it's neither a pistil nor a leaf.

so that begs the question: what is it then?

this plant is the strangest that i've ever grown... at this point nothing "it" does will surprise me. i was told it was feminized but i don't really know the grow store dude that gifted it to me. other pic was the day after i got it (was on 11/9/24) 19 days ago

she's drinking 1/2gal every 8-10 hrs and eating 100ppm of nutes. it's normal for the tds to increase as water level drops, not with my little piggy.
the ph only rose 1 pnt from 5.8 to 5.9 in same time
i've been trying to source some 1/2" clear blue tubing for the sight tube. if you know of any hit me up plz
1" = appx 1/2 gallon for the 1st several inches in most 5 gal buckets

here are what i believe to be "duckfoot mutation" pics... notice some of the leaves that are fused others with little or no serrations and some that look absolutely like a ducks foot- flat with no serrations' and 3 toe looking nubs. i'm not sure what i have here yet, and i'm no rocket scientist but she is unique (imho) and i love watching her phenomenal growth and awesome day by day changes. any and all thoughts and opinions welcomed and encouraged

When I see short internodes like that I'm going to pass it.
For me it's a dwarf plant, wheater a mutation or not.

yeah, i believe you may be right. to me it's like a train wreck though... i just can't bring myself to quit looking. prolly just throwing my money away but that seems to go hand in hand with this profession. thank you for the feedback and have a terrific day!

Did you stripped her to that shape?
If so, a great idea to make something useful out of that plant. When she starts stretching regularly now..is it maybe a cure for dwarfs? nice!

yeah maybe, she had almost no roots when i got her, she was in a dried out rapid root cube. hopefully now that she has nice roots she might take off. 3l of water in the last 24hrs plus she's just gobbling up the nutes. oh, she has only had 2 damage leaves removed early on since birth

w/ my style in rockwool, this is my working theory:

every drop of water that flows thru it is heavily layden w/ h2o, o2 and nutes
due to intense light and co2, the roots are able intake whatever the plants need without burning
salts don't really get a chance to build up bc they are constantly awash in fresh nutes (we use dirt to crean dirt grasshopper, there is no mystry in this)
if salts do build up the 2ed rule of fight club is kick their ass with a good flush every 7 days. at min 1 hr. this makes things much easier to spot, diagnose and try to correct
with constant watering the salts never dry out, thus making them easier to flush
in this mom bucket set up i'm using now, the roots love the highly oxygenated water in the bucket (up to 8-10' tall with similar setup with hydrton rocks). i think they also like the slightly dryer "wings" of unislab not directly under the flow. the 4 way feeder manifold is nice bc it helps w/ o2 and circulation, plus prevents back pressure on the pump prolonging it's life (it was happy accident, as i was using spare parts from main build). last, flushing is a breeze. just get 2ed bucket with ph h2o, transfer her over, clean and reset main bucket while other is flushing.
rockwool is extremely clean. i have never had root bugs or problems. i"m a firm believer in "cleanliness is godliness" in grow rooms. cuts down on many probs w/ gnats etc. also makes the gosh damn son a bitchen little bastards easier to spot (sorry, bout of touretts syn)
they claim the new rockwool can be used and sanitized several x (not sure if i'd risk it tho)
you don't have be real hung up on numbers, rather use ranges. i/e i just topped up with 3l of nutes, i try to shoot for 1400, i hit 1300 so i ran with it, especially since i'll be flushing tomorrow anyway (i try not to ever exceed 1500 tho i've had friends that ran 1800ppm (they can take it as long as every other parameter is met
lastly this is all an expriment to see if an old man still has it. i may well be pissing in the wind. i may well straight up crash and burn. if i do, don't laugh and beat me up over it; instead, see it as lessons learned and thank me for it

the momma closet doors will be coming off and a curtain hung to make mom easier to get to.
there will be a 20gal water can mixed up with 400ppm "mainenance mix" in it, beside my moms. this will be dipped out of bucket by hand to top her off every day
the 400 ppm will drastically slow her roll until a cpl weeks out from cloning

RO water, water ph, co2, and other random thoughts:

RO Water is made/stored in bathroom about 30' down the hall from the room in 44g tuff stuff can. this will has an air stone, a small circulation pump, and a utility pump hooked to a smart plug with a 3/4 inch garden hose attached (3/4" hose so there is less pressure to spray around when pump is on) this is so it can be controlled remotely w/ app. the circulation pump and aeration help make sure to evaporate any potential chlorine off on high water usage days like flush day. (ideally i'd have 2 cans plumbed together for 88gal storage capacity but i barely have room for one.
my water is very strange - 0 ppm & ph 8.4 coming out of ispring RO unit- here"s the thing, it only takes 1 or 2 drops in 1gal to drop it to the low 5's but, when you mix 1 gal the nutes buffer the mix to about a 6.2 - 6.4. it then takes about 6 drops to put it at my preferred 5.8 (start fresh res with @ 5.8 and let it creep slowly up to 6.2 throughout the week. this ensures max absorption of all nutes throughout the absorption range (i think lol)
pros please bare with me on the stuff that's basic 101, as i'm trying to suit it to newbs & seasoned pros alike (if you lready know everything then you're probably on the wrong page)
co2 runs naturally @ around 1000ppm with two bipeds and 2 canines in house. this will be supplemented up to 1400ppm with a LP 4 burner co2 generator. ***very important to check fittings periodically with soapy water for gas leaks, please don't blow yourselves up*** plus make sure to have both o2 and co2 detectors, one set in room & one set in sleeping quarters). and remember, o2 is lighter than air and co2 is heavier than air (don't believe me, look it up before clubbing me like an orphaned baby seal please)
as always feel free to add to it, subtract from it criticize it (or me) and just enjoy your experience being around such a beautiful and conscious plant. and yes, i said conscious; the more love and attention you give them, the more they respond to you. prove me wrong... oh & play'em some smooth jaz during lights on (i've seen em growing so fast you could see them dance and twitch if you turn off all air movement for a very quick minute or two)

i'm disabled and home pretty much 24/7 so it offers me the opportunity to check out my girl throughout the whole 24hr day.

you can believe it or not but she seems to be "exercising" (or taking power naps) throughout her 24hr day (exactly what i do. which is why i'm on here all the time. i tend to be more creative and introspective during the wee hours)

i'll go in and look and some of her leaves will kind of point down (not drooping but more like sleeping), then i'll look an hour later and she'll be perked back up again almost like she's exercising

wondering if anyone has experienced this? mayhap be all in my head, i don't think so, but the jury is still out. -peace-

p.s. she is progressing nicely now with some very nice 1" internodes. her stem is over 1/4" thick at the very top! like i said "she be exercising"

There are strange things done in the indoor sun, by the men who tend to the Kind,

the indoor lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see;

was a night in my room while tending my blooms, i met the Goddess Of Green.


Now the Goddess Of Green hailed from parts yet unseen, where the hemp fields

Why she left her sweet fields to check out my yields, was a mystery as yet to be seen.

She seemed quite impressed and at that time undressed, and winked and smiled at me.

tools are your best friend and you can never have too many. as my barn building friend Richard used to say: "Show me a man that builds a Barn big enough and I'll kiss his ass"

ph & tds pens are a necessity imho, you can use drops or test strips if on a tight budget, but i personally prefer [quality] pens, i would have a backup as well.

measuring cups, syringes, pipettes, tape measure, circuit tester, dry chemical fire extinguisher, etc

i'll try and put together a list of what i consider must haves (feel free to chime in farm) -peace-

if possible, put a [quality] tarp down covering entire floor with at least 4" going up the wall creating a containment pond, spills can and will happen, be prepared, trust me on this; one day you'll thank me

i'm getting a bit worried about my upcoming grow, some concerns:

heat - i'll be able to run up to 95f (think az or tx) by supplying 1400ppm co2 along

with constant watering and intense light. i have a ge portable ac unit

but i don't want the energy suck. (i have lots of amperage safety margin left,

i'll only be using 20 some amps out of the 220v 60amp circuit i ran)

plus i'll have to cut holes in walls

power bill - i've calculated around a $400 increase in my bill, if i'm under that

all the better, if it's much over that i'm gunner have to change up my game,

eat some crow and go a more power friendly growing style that most or all on here use

time - it's been 22yrs; that's a long fuckn time and old father time hasn't been

exactly kind to me. cancer, [6yrs cancer free now) chemo, radiation, destroyed back,

copd the whole 9 yds. i would say the creater (& myself) put the big suck on me...

but it's been a hell of a ride and i would change very little of it, like be a little kinder

in my earlier, pre hs days,

money - i'm on a fixed income and shit's feckn expensive these days. i've been

trying to put this together on a shoestring budget for over 1.5yrs and my babbies may suffer

bc of it.

failure- failur is always a concern. definitely a little apprehensive about having

to come on here and face you all after a failure, especially after all the talking i've done

lighting - my lighting is a mix of auction bought stuff And 2 of the cheapest 800w

lights that medic grow sells (fold 8oo/800w). i have never used leds, only hps (i have 2

1000w hps that i originally was going to use. if push comes to shove i could use them.

don't want to tho as i'd have to tear down my 4x8 tent, cut 8" holes in the wall and

ceiling, buy blowers, ducting etc. it would be a lot more money and work

the dreaded "suck zones" in the backs of my tents. as of yet i have no clue how i'm

going to get back there to work & inspect etc.
