Hey there glad I’m not the only hillbilly that does this lol!Have used this method last summer worked great saved my crop I made up a hobo humidifier I set up a small fan to blow across a drip tray full of water . Easy n cheap fix . Od .
AbsolutelyThis is a bit of a strange question but does anybody use the "waste" water from the weekly change to water other plants in the garden / lawn?
Can you get away with recycling this?
Bud
I use mine as a wetting agency for my compost piles .Absolutely
I was worried that the PPM gets higher it may be too strong.Absolutely
Make sure you dilute it down best practice . OdI was worried that the PPM gets higher it may be too strong.
I go into week 2 veg tomorrow so will pump onto the lawn etc

Is it fuzzy like mold or like salt when you touch itHello all, noticed white crap on the clay pebbles.
Not sure if it's mold or salt? I'm a bit worried.
What do you guys think, any tips please?
Bud
Hey Aqua , take this question over to " mini me clone idea " and see what type of responses you getIs it fuzzy like mold or like salt when you touch it
Well sorry you took it that way certainly not trying to put out a challenge. I did the same thing for years myself so certainly not being critical. I've just never heard a reason exactly why it was better or worse. And I didn't make any comments directed at anybody specifically it was just meant to be a discussion that everyone could benefit from. And as far as shooting people down... Certainly not, just making counterpoints most of them things I've gotten from people I work with currently are in the past so just for discussion versus being combative. Oh and as far as tagging you all's I've ever done is hit reply so it should have just gone out onto the general thread. At least that was my intention.Hey Q , your "question" seems more like a challenge , where you gently asked opinions then aggressively knocked each answer down with a know it all attitude
Please don't tag my name in on a response that ends up with " we no longer have to settle for mediocre advice from unqualified mentors ....
Not sure if you were referring to my answer but I will tell you that the paper towel method is a great way to start seedlings and I know you will find hundreds of experienced growers here who use it
Looks like budw3is3r is having a shitload of problems using your technique, I guarantee if he started his germ in paper towel , got a taproot started and split the rock wool and oriented the seedling inside , he would have been better off....
Also I've been handling that big word " meristem" at the seedling stage with no damage , ever , so that right there may be some unqualified advice.....
I germ about 600 seeds in a 6 month period , and have 30 years grow experience , so to each his own so please don't come in here with a friendly and curious question then rant about how it's all wrong , or at least don't attach my name to it when you've declared how things are done by " commercial pros" like yourself....
Putting a seedling in a jiffy pot on your counter will have much more unpredictable results than using a paper towel in a warm dark place....
Hahah o need to pop in there bro it's been a bit. You all got it going on in there and don't need my help but I love to pop in and smile.Hey Aqua , take this question over to " mini me clone idea " and see what type of responses you get
I personally find it's easier to control temps and faster and better germ rates because of that. Combined with soaking for 16-18 hrs in distilled water to help with germination. Easy to maintain ideal moisture in paper towels. Then put into a damp media not saturated for most ideal sprouting. This time I didn't do it and planted straight after soak to soil. I think I added about 3 days to my sprout time. I don't feel its necessary but I do feel it does improve germination rates and sprout times because you can maintain ideal moisture levels and temperature of the seeds easier.Well sorry you took it that way certainly not trying to put out a challenge. Yeah walked into that one. To touch, it feels like mineral deposits. Is it fuzzy like mold or like salt when you touch it
I would just toss some res water through the top once a week to prevent deposits from building upYeah walked into that one. To touch, it feels like mineral deposits.
Yup looking nice manQuick update, not the best pictures due to light.
Impressed with the root growth over such a short time?
I would say 4 should put you about right. I used to veg 3-3.5 weeks.Hello All,
What do most growers.. indoor in hydro use for the number of weeks in veg and flower?
I was thinking 4 in veg and 8 in flower but wanted to hear from experience growers.
Tomorrow I change the tank and go into week 3 veg, will post updated pictures tomorrow.
Thanks for everybody's comments and feedback, for the first time grower I'm loving it.
