Co2? Yup I ha e always used itI'm honored! Be sure to let me know when you're back among the sticky fingered.
Hey man, have you used gas at all? I'm still pretty "green" at it, figured you might be the one to bury in questions
This is my second season I did well last season, but found some interesting issues.Co2? Yup I ha e always used it
Increased co2 lowers transpiration rates as the plant will photosynthesize more efficiently. Lower transpiration can really effect calcium uptake. Keep humidity 50-55 in veg and 45-50 in flower. To increase the transpiration a bit to help offset. You may need to run higher ppm also to help compensate. This is my second season I did well last season, but found some interesting issues.
While the hydro plant did very well, and had some of the best quality bud I've grown, at least for the size of the plant, my Candida plant, which was in the same room grew huge but loose buds. No real firmness at all to the flowers. This plant was revegged, so I had seen it flower before. The first time the buds were good size, not giant, but "heavy" with oil... just better.
Could this have been from too much gas (PPMS were around 1500PPMs, from a generator of a repeat timer 1 minute on 20 off) or using gas too long in flower?
What's up with Calcium? I can't get it in the plant fast enough.
A little on the perameters:
I'm using ChilLED lights. Temps are around 85. Humidity is between 50 and 60. Nutrient PPMs are at 1000 now, I may go as high as 1200 in flower. The plants are doing pretty well. I think I'm close to perfect (for my situation). But I'd like to pick your proverbial brain.
Yeah, I was curious about the PPMs (food).Increased co2 lowers transpiration rates as the plant will photosynthesize more efficiently. Lower transpiration can really effect calcium uptake. Hows the light intensity?
Are you adding anything other then mega crop and if not which version?
Veg800pofd in veg? Or flower?
That could be why... thats very high for veg. 18/6?
Could be why what? That could be why... thats very high for veg. 18/6?
Seeing a calcium issue.Could be why what?
Sorry, I got high. Gotcha.Seeing a calcium issue.
They will prob speed up if under 18/6 with ci2 I'd be around 600-650 prob max.I lowered them to 700. Let's see if it affects the growing speed. They're doing well... just sucking up Calcium
Where do you have your lights in flower? They will prob speed up if under 18/6 with ci2 I'd be around 600-650 prob max.
Flower can get up to 1200-1300 ppfd on some strains maybe higher but 1200 is usually plenty.Where do you have your lights in flower?
These lights are still new to me. Only 1 season on them. I bought a light meter because they are so much brighter... differentnt then I have used prior. I never had bleaching or crazy leaf temps, so I kinda put the boots to em' with no complaint from the plants I just kept going. I was running HPS/MH, And CMH lights before these. I had owned Platinum, G8, Spectrum King, Black Dog LEDs before that, but these are another animal completely. I've only had a real light meter for a couple months.
Thanks for the info AM.
Oh man. That means a lot. It's so quiet here, it can be really boring sometimes. I've started threads here in the past but didn't finish due to lack of conversation. If you ever have questions I'd like to take a whack at them.I have enjoyed following your thread so please keep it updated. About to start my first RDWC grow and taking notes.
I was at about 1100 last season in deep flower. I'm thinking the light I'm using in the closet wasnt strong enough for such a large plant, leaving the buds a little loose. I don't plan on growing plants this big here regularly. It was a revegged plant, and the gas made it go crazy. I was curious why the hydro plant had such great quality and this one has looseFlower can get up to 1200-1300 ppfd on some strains maybe higher but 1200 is usually plenty.
Last season I tried a different kind of mono-silicic Silica additive. It's by Power Si, but unlike the liquid stuff we use in hydro, this is a granule and used only in dirt. It's been around a while but the price was absolutely ridiculous. I've seen it for $250 for 2KG. Cocaine prices. So I never tried it. Well, my hydro store had had a damaged one so I picked it up for cheap. Not cheap enough, but it makes me feel better when I say I got it cheap.

I ran it in the closet plant indoors and 2 more Candida I had outdoors last season. I can't say I saw any benefits, to be honest the two outside died, but the plant indoors got big. To make a short story long, I'm gonna add it to the closet plant tomorrow. I've got it, I might as well get rid of it. Haha. I would love to see this stuff work like it's liquid brethren. I've been withholding my review at the hydro place till I'm sure it's a waste of money.
