I couldn't say exactly but the pot I bought for this contest is 1.2 US gallons (4.5 liters) and measures 9" diameter x 9" high
I’ve had a thought on that as I’m using the same pot as you. As the bases are removable why don’t we just put the base 1 level higher?? I worked out that 1 level between air holes is roughly just over 1/2 litre so just under 4 litres 🤷🏻. I’ve got no chance of being anywhere near the top of the tree but I still wouldn’t want any type of unfair advantage

so when is this going to happen, too much talk not enough action, set the guide lines & lets do this....
Some things are still being worked out.
Also giving time for people to buy what they need, finish up grows, make space, etc so everyone has the opportunity to join if they want.

I think @Mikedin is using a current grow to try and come up with time frames and such.

Rushing into these things is going to do nothing but cause issues during the contest.

I think the discussion is leaning towards the first of August, I personally won’t be able to start until then, but this thread is an open forum for all to discuss and plan this thing. @Mikedin is the head honcho putting this all together so keep an eye on the thread and see what happens.

I was planning on building a 3x2 in the large closet I'm making room in for this contest.
I just priced materials and in today's world, it's actually cheaper for me to buy a 3x2 tent then it's to build something. It's really crazy anymore, everything 2x-3x more then it use to be.

AC Infinity is having a big sale so I just ordered the Cloudlab 632 (3x2x6) tent.

If any USA customers need anything, it's 10% off site wide and you can add a content creators promo code for another 10% off (MRGROWIT15) for a total of 20% off. Plus all orders over $100 ship free.

Hmmmm sounds like I should buy a new tent that I don’t possibly have anymore space for 🤣🤣🤣. I’m a sucker for a good deal, and hate to pay for shipping. Thanks for sharing!!

Not an easy question to answer because of all the variables involved between metric and imperial measurements as well as manufacturing design. But someone else posted a chart on this thread that might help answer your question. I will see if I can find it and tag you in response to it.
My American frame of reference is about the same size a paint can, but again lots of variables as height increase, width decreases.
I found that chart:

Unfortunately there aren’t any dimensions due to that whole variable situation.View attachment 2217465Do you like math?? Lol 😂

Some pot calculations for the curious, and not willing to bust out the calculator.

Most pots I have on hand are actually Conical Frustums🤔🤣

A conversion for those of us measuring in inches 4.5 L = 274.607 cubic inches

I almost sat down and did some math last night regarding this conundrum but decided that it’d probably be a waste of my time and not much more than a quick glance by most. But that was going to be where I started. You made a good point about the conical vs cylinder shape of pots. Hadn’t even considered that because I’ve been using fabric pots for so long I’d forgotten about other types of pots.

Just do what I'm doing, have a yard sale to make more grow space lol everything made at the yard sale goes toward new equipment! Double win!

Best part of the sale is free shipping, they never offer that!
Last time I had to buy $300 worth of equipment, with 10% off I saved $30 but shipping was going to be $50 so not really saving. Found at another retailer, still got 10% off but shipping was free. I prefer to order directly from ACI but more often then not the shipping cost makes me look elsewhere.

Honestly, there is nothing on the line but comraderie and bragging rights, so why the fuss? I like the idea of growing in 1gal or 4.5L (or whatever in between), all participants stay active in the appropriate thread and use the freaking honor system. If someone needs to "cheat" to win a friendly "competition," then I'd rather we all know who they are anyways🤷‍♂️

Bingo! That’s the plan I only set the pot limit at 4.5L max anything else below is acceptable, hell people can grow in a shot glass if they’d like, just nothing bigger. It’s all for fun, only reason we’re holding off is so once people saw this a lot are at plant count max already, as I started it a month at least before the planned start date people will finish what they can and save a plant spot for the competition plant, so we figured maybe first week of august would give everyone a good month to prepare, then we’ll all get together, vote on a splash date probably around august 1st or 2nd and I’ll set the splash / germ time / veg time / and flip dates from there and off we’ll go!

Definitely on to something here @Mikedin. Could alleviate a decent amount of confusion by saying one gallon or less, or the <4.5L challenge. (All entries must be in containers no larger than 4.5 liters, and hand watered) or are we allowing hydro or drip irrigation also?

Good point a drain to recirc system might be the ticket.

See that’s why I opened this up, to see what everyone wants! Well finalize rules eventually but keep throwing them out and we’ll discuss at the end and see what everyone wants, I see no issue with autos having a separate category, at the end there will just be a bunch of polls to decide the winner

Keep ‘em comin!
Mike I like the idea of keeping it pretty loose. See what people can make happen in a one gallon. Beside it’s just bragging rights.

so are we going to be able to use our choice of seeds/reg/auto's, im going to use auto's for my grow, will this be a problem...
Photos would be preferred hit you’re free to join with an auto, hopefully it’s not a 3 month nth veg strain we’re planning to flip after about 7 weeks from sprout of seed

Update on the cman x okie after the up pot, she’s kickin ass those lower nodes are stretching, I’ll be grabbing both of those lower nodes and gettin them into the cloner to be sure I get a keeper, the seed plant will be going right into the flower tent after an up pot a to a 1 gal pot well… as close as mine are to a 1 gal probably like 0.7 gal but it’ll work

Gotta update the lab journal lol
