Can’t you drop a seed in some water today, paper towel or small pot of soil on a sunny windowsill to germinate for a few days then your tent will be ready and you’re in the game?

OFFICIAL TIMELINE FOR THE 2024 ONE GALLON CHALLENGE!

Start date 8/5
Germ timeline: 8/5 - 8/12 (7 days)
Seedling timeline 8/12-8/26 (14 days)
Veg timeline 8/26 - 9/30 (36 days)

This timeline leaves 92 days from end of veg / start of flower, to new years. Most plants should finish within this timeline. There will be no exact finish date, when all entrants have finished flower the contest will end, we will determine an adequate dry time (most likely 2 weeks) then we will vote on weight and manicured bud appearance last. For the other categories voting can begin when the last plant finishes.

May have a best appearance vote at end of veg as well (best plant shape / most efficient training method etc)

The dates above are final, all entrants must follow the timeline, I will split the final members list into 2 or 3 groups (not dependent on strain or auto / photo I will use a random generator to determine groups) you will be placed in group 1 or group 2,

Mondays and Thursdays will be photo submission date for group 1

Tuesdays and Fridays will be photo submission days for group 2

A designated topic will be created tomorrow for ALL entrants to show their seed / strain a medium / explain your grow and your goals, In one post each, after the initial posts no further comments will be allowed in the photo submission topic all posts besides the photo submissions will be deleted.

An additional category for males will be made if we have any come up during the competition!

This current topic will continue as the chat topic for the contest.

So these have done awesome in the past, and haven’t seen anyone bring it up in quite some time. let’s see if we have enough interest in it still to make it fun!. Last one I know about was in 2022 so, let’s see how many are interested!

If we have enough contestants we will start getting a topic ready and set up a submission date

For anyone wondering… buy this fucking brand bags, complete difference as soon as I opened the bag I could tell instantly easily twice as thick, very heavy, grommets are fuckin pro, I’ll defenitly be buying their 5’s or 7’s and some 10’s hands down

OKie Dokie i'm offically started about 15min ago LOL. I got a auto for the contest. Just pulled a grape x runtz auto and it's being germinated in wet papertowel in a baggy. It's a seed gifted to me by a friend who breeds so can't say i didn't warn ya'll LOL. Get ready for a Granny grower!

I am having a ton of bad luck going from soak to solo cup and getting seeds to die, an I allowed to use straight to rooting plugs? And if I don't use an auto flower seed(3 bears og × mango smile) I will need to decide which triploid, I have one I started an air layer to get clones of it on Saturday, clones of another I shared to a friend arriving Wednesday and another I can pop from seed, so I need to decide one of the 2 I will already have running or the 3rd in my line up. Main issue is I am under usda license as hemp so I will need to test and harvest early and running that many at once the testing can get pricy. Help me decide lol

You can use whatever growing media you like.

So wait, what? Are you saying you're going to be growing a hemp plant? I, too, am a hemp farmer so I can help you with any questions you may have regarding legal issues with it. What state are you in, if you don't mind? Is it a weed legal state or no?

You should be alright come inspection time as long as you are not growing weed within your registered hemp area.

Also, may be easier to just fill a solo cup with whatever media you choose, pack it in nice and tight, stick the seed in about 1/4-1/2 an inch deep (with pointy part of seed pointing up) and then carefully, slowly, water it in until completely saturated. Should see sprout sticking out of the soil/media within 5 days or so. Keep it wet until you see a sprout, don't let it dry out.
