I am growing 2 Columbian Red Bud (Punta Rojo). I am also growing 2 "The Spice". The Spice is 50% Hawaiian indica and sativa. It is a hybrid landrace strain. They will all be in 10 gallon containers

And I am back to square one. Not one of them continued to grow. Germinating the old-fashioned way this time.

And none of those germinate. So, I planted some seeds directly into soil without germination and I have one Acapulco Gold plant up. I also think I know what the issue was with germination. I bought a new ph tester. The water I had ph tested with my old tester was extremely high.

Hmm tell us how your germinating? I soak for 18-24hrs then damp paper towel into a baggie that i puff warm breath into zip it up place in warm dark area. Rarely do i not have germination. But folks all do it differently. Don't get the soil too wet or cold.

My germination has been no issue before. I ph water to 5.8. I add 4 parts purified ph water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide. 48 hours in a warm dark place.

The water I had adjusted to 5.8 with my old ph tester read 6.5 with the new one. Both had been calibrated. This is the old tester.

Yeah everyone is different I’ve seen all kinds of ways done all with their own success. Personally, I throw mine in spring water or rain water for 2-3 days, and when I see the shell crack open I place on well watered soil, throw a spec of dirt on top, place a dim light directly above the seeds, and have 8/10
4/5 success. Most times better, very few times less success… I have noticed if the soil is too damp or muddy when the sprout emerges, the plant quickly will die due to some kind of rotting or over watering. Just my 2 cents

I have two Acapulco Gold that came up. I am leaving the top off on this until the soil drys out a bit. These were not germinated before planting. I just put a few old seeds into soil. There is Columbian Gold, Acapulco Gold, Headband 517, White Widow, BioHaz.

Fingers crossed for some girls! You’re not the only one that can have problems germinating Landrace! They can be tough!

Hey there @Galgrows I want to know what the "warm breath in a bag" does for the germination? This a secret trick of yours?

Good news! I started germination of 2 Columbian Gold and 2 Columbian Red seeds. After 24 hours the Columbian Gold seeds had long healthy tails. The Gold has been planted. The Columbian Red seeds are starting to pop this morning. Both seed strains are feminized seeds.

I cannot get these Colombian red seeds to germinate. They are still in the water and have not germinated.

Idk if anyone said this, also I’ve never tried but I have read a lot of people that have trouble popping landrace seeds use sandpaper to soften them up. Just a thought. Good luck!

I just love how land races are getting so popular. It’s a step in the right direction for sure.

Be patient! And watch the water temp! Too late to scuff them! Sometimes it takes four or five days!
