Thank you so much for posting your experiences! I also water with high PH well water and wondered why my Auto's fan leaves yellow. I thought it was because I have a lackadaisical approach to fertilizing, but your rational seems plausible. This explains why the plants look so good after a rain, the PH is lower. The bad news: My og kush auto due to getting bud rot and being harvested early isn't doing well. A month into cure I smoked and it wasn't great. No real aroma, but not hay either. I just think trichomes were not ready. It did get me mildly high tho. Maybe curing longer will help.
The good news: The northern lights auto has been curing the same as og kush but the buds are nicer and they have a decent smell to them. I couldn't believe when I opened the bag. Smoke test was a touch harsh, but not bad taste and high.
The WTF news: Remember the Big Bud Fast Version my dog dragged around the yard before I salvaged it and replanted? Due to shock/stress or whatever, it went the speed of an auto and developed some nice golf ball sized buds which right now are turning out to be my best.
I'm so confused, y'all. lol
The yet-to-be-determined: So all I have left is my other big bud pot (left) and my gorilla cookies auto. These things look to be toast to me so far as fan leaves. Trichomes are starting to show some milky on both. I decided to just wait until they look ready no matter what. The gorilla auto is well beyond the life expectancy; big bud is closer to normal.

Here is something I've discovered, and I welcome anyone to tell me why it makes sense or why it's bullshit. My well water, which I'm forced to use most of the time, is very hard. It has a crazy buffer. For instance, the GH Ph down stuff will take a gal of my water from 7.2 to 6.2 with a tsp of that stuff. Seems excessive to me.
My solution to this was to take citric acid .25 tsp and lower my ph to low 6's. It worked perfectly. But what I found out is because of that buffer, my citric acid doesn't do anything after it sits for a bit in jug, OR once in the soil because the buffer continues to buffer. That's when I learned the difference between the citric acid and the gh ph down product. If I'm correct, my ph WILL remain low if I use the latter.
I believe that because I had classic bottom-up yellowing leaves, it was nitrogen lacking, and whether or not I had enough in the soil didn't matter because of eventual lockout caused by continuous watering with bad water.
Seems important that I get this right. I'm looking at potted plants on the site and seeing a ton of healthy fan leaves, green and happy well into flower. I have not had one plant look like that yet, except for those quickly finished autos. They had no yellow at all.
They may not look great, but they smell damn good :D
Starting to get cool, I’m just south of NickLooking good there bro you all starting to have cool night up there ?
It’s in the video, it’s the bud that’s smiling at you, I’ll post a pic laterA fasciated branch on each plant? Something wacky going on there! Do you live near a nuclear power plant?how about a pic when you get a chance!
You're welcome. I doubt many folks in this thread have these amateurish issues that I do, but I'm pretty excited to have figured this out. I probably should have discovered it last year in grow #1, but it's better late than never. No doubt the rain helps a lot. I've collected several buckets to use the rest of the way for watering, but I've been afraid to leave them in rain due to the crazy humidity and other unfavorable conditions.Thank you so much for posting your experiences! Yup I'm about 100 miles north of you and we are sharing the same weather, it started late yesterday afternoon and supposed to be done by this afternoon and I'll be out there shaking and getting soaking wet again. Same forecast for drying and warmer but 70s & 80s all done with the bad heat, now if we stay dry for 3 weeks this could be a pretty good harvest and less dragging & shaking.Yes i still drag the 2 photoperiods across my yard and under my patio. Saturday they are saying rain here then none for a good 10days. Temps are way lower only in the 70's may rise to low 80's next week but no more 90+. I'm in Oregon OldBoy, i've dealt with this fall rain stuff for over 45yrs. I never was able to cover my plants from the rain only shook them and then deal with bud rot. I have a 12x14 polycarbin roof it's heavy duty.

I’m thrilled to have well water that is right at about seven! That way I don’t have to mess with it. My plants don’t complain about it!You're welcome. I need to put much effort into learning all I can about fertilizing and what soil to use. I'm sure I could have done so much better.
You know, there is another rabbit hole to jump down. My well water has lots of calcium and sulfur in it, so I may be experiencing an imbalance in nutrients after 2 months of growth. You're welcome. Wild stuff! Are the plants related? It’s pretty rare to see one fasciated plant let alone two.One has a huge top, super chunky top 8 inches , the other split into several flowers right at the top. Tried to get some pictures of the chunkiness but couldn’t get a decent picture
I'd bet the water coming out of the ground at 7 where you live is far better for cannabis than mine.I’m thrilled to have well water that is right at about seven! That way I don’t have to mess with it. My plants don’t complain about it!
Actually, not at all, two different seed sources. Not the first time this has happened either, my soil must be radioactiveWild stuff! Are the plants related? It’s pretty rare to see one fasciated plant let alone two.
It’s hard here also! Calcium deposits on everything! I just think seven is close enough! I get soil tests done because I re-amend, and my soil for the last four years has remained right at around 6.9! I think if it’s close The plants can adapt! I don’t know! I try not to complicate things! Big plants in small pots tend to be temperamental! I think it’s normal for a plant to be dumping It’s shade leaves when you’re getting close to harvest! Good luck with it!I'd bet the water coming out of the ground at 7 where you live is far better for cannabis than mine.
I would be tempted to go get one of those kits for encasing flowers in resin, and preserve it on your coffee table for posterity! But it sounds like it’s not a rare occurrence for you!Actually, not at all, two different seed sources. Not the first time this has happened either, my soil must be radioactive![]()
Yeah, I think your point about the pots makes sense. I now know for sure the Big Bud fast is recommended to be in ground. The gorilla was recommended for a pot, but I think it said 10 gal min. Both of these are quite rootbound. It’s hard here also! Calcium deposits on everything! I just think seven is close enough!
