they also evolved outdoors under the sun with roots in dirt so adjusting the light schedule a little wont kill them

youre right about the outside days shifting so now id never try this due to heat issues when its light out

I wouldnt do it but theres no doubt in my mind itll work. Ive done some fd. up shit to plants. I think it would affect yield but a 60 day 24 cycle would be 50 days on a 20 hr cycle.

I've done 18/6 and 24/0 under HPS. I never noticed a difference in plant growth. Perhaps I just wasn't paying attention, or MH makes a bigger difference.

I'm a bit scared to try Sea Maiden's schedule.

I just finished vegging today. I ran my clones for 24/0 for their first twenty-three days. I backed them off to the 18/6 for an additional seven days and now they are on their 12/12 light cycle. I felt better when I backed them off, just a personal thing. I know I can burn hard for a long time, but then I want a break. I think you do what you feel and keep an eye on them. It all works.

If I am in mid veg and running 18/24 - can I switch over to 24/0 without causing problems?

You should be good minster. I have seen plants start flowering going from 24 to 18. Yes lots of things work, but some better than others.

No problem minster. I personally wouldnt change them in the middle of veg. I think it would be better to switch them when there clones. Just in case. I dont think the 24 or 18 makes that much of a difference unless your veggin for awhile. I think you woul be fine switching but I dont have enough experience with that particular switch to say for sure.

I like 24/0 for the first week or so to avoid too much stretch but I like 18/6 because I run perpetual and since I have 9 weeks of flower I also have 9 weeks of seedling and veg stage and they can get too big in that amount of time especially with 24/0 light cycle

I think it boils down to Daily Light Integral, autoflowers need about 30DLI. DLI is determined by light strength and hours of light. So if you want to run 24/0, lights need to be turned down.

your right DLI is what is important how you get there does not matter as much

I will tell you 100% through experience that plants do a lot of growing during the dark period,and my plant(past early veg)grow faster than plants under 24 hours of light,and why add 120 more hours to your power bill a month

Like people said, plants are gonna take only as much light as they can, after that running light is wasting light and not letting the plant do processes that they do better in the dark like regenerating terpenes, healing faster and other important stuff. You can augment the daily ammount of light they can get sometimes if you augment all other parameters but I doubt a plant will take a lot of advantage of 24 hours of light. I just did a run of 6/2 with autos and it was insane how much they ate and grew, if you want them to go faster use the power nap method but I recommend longer light periods, I was pushing it and I was using 3gallons so they ended up canibalizing themselves because the root system couldnt keep up with the needs of food with so much light being processed. Still got good stuff to smoke but some had to be choped a bit early due to lack of nutrients in the leaves.

The commercial guys use CO2 to max out growth with higher intensity lighting. But pretty much all commercial is photoperiod plants which need 12/12.

Yes but for them to consume more CO2 they need to consume more of everything else aswell. You might already know but many people think that by using a CO2 bag and not touching anything else is gonna do something when its not.
