Flowering week 5 day 5:

Not much new. I tested going the whole night cycle without swapping out ice bottles in the reservoir. Water temp went from 71f to 77f over the 12 hours. That got too high for sure, but if I get the temp lower before the night cycle I can go the entire 12 hours without disturbing the plants. 66f to 72f would be perfect. Lowered temp of my freezer to help make any ice I use last longer.

Now for a bunch of pics.

Group shots. You can see that plant 2 clearly overtook plant 1 on height now. Plant 2 should be done growing now though.

All are buds from plant 1 except the last image which is the tallest bud of plant 2.

Since I was doing dry weight estimations in another thread I figured I would put my estimations for each plant here. I am doing estimations based on the number of branches that made it to canopy height as well as taking into account the node spacing and branch thickness. Using these factors I can guess how much wet weight a branch will produce and use that to estimate the total dry weight after curing.

To get from wet weight to dry weight I will simply divide by 4 which assumes that 75% of the weight is lost during curing.

Plant 1: 2.5oz
26 branches made it to canopy height.
16 of them are taller, thicker, and have less space between nodes. I estimate 1/2oz wet weight for each of these branches.
The other 10 I estimate 1/4oz wet weight each.
(16 / 2) + (10 / 4) = 10.5
10.5 / 4 = 2.625

Plant 2: 1.25oz
13 branches made it to canopy height.
8 @ 1/2oz
5 @ 1/4oz
(8 / 2) + (5 / 4) = 5.25
5.25 / 4 = 1.3125

Plant 3: 0.5oz
5 branches made it to canopy height.
4 @ 1/2oz
1 @ 1/4oz
(4 / 2) + (1 / 4) = 2.25
2.25 / 4 = 0.5625

Plant 4: 0.5oz
5 branches made it to canopy height. All are smaller than plant 3, but this plant is still doing its stretch (even 5 weeks into flowering) so it will catch up to plant 3.
4 @ 1/2oz
1 @ 1/4oz
(4 / 2) + (1 / 4) = 2.25
2.25 / 4 = 0.5625

Total: 4.75oz dry weight.

By the end of the year I will know how close this estimate is.

My bennies suddenly bloomed out of nowhere last night. Foam was filling up my reservoir. Had to turn down my air pump to slow the foam. They also made the PH skyrocket. It was too late in the light cycle to do a reservoir swap, so I nuked it's PH down to 5.6 so it could last through the night cycle.

Night cycle ended 2 hours ago. PH got up to 7.3! Nuked it down to 6.3 just so plants would be a bit happier during the reservoir swap.

Started draining the reservoir directly to the toilet. Not saving any of it except for what little remains at the bottom that doesn't get pumped out. That tiny bit will be the new population of my bennies too.

As it drained, I sprayed water on the roots and around the reservoir to clean out the foam. I also diluted the solution with about 5 gallons of tap water as it drained.

Once finished draining I added in a fresh batch of solution. It naturally comes to 6.5 PH and will lower as the air pumps dissolve CO2 into it. I'm another hour or so I will check it again and it should be lower.

Plants seem to be fine from the recent PH fluctuations, but only time will tell.

Tiny bit of foam remains. It is slowly diluting itself into the new solution. I just sprayed RO water around the edges of the reservoir and at the roots to remove the foam again. Should be the last time I need to do that. Reservoir smells clean and roots look healthy, so no root rot.

Need to get water temp back down to 66f-68f. Currently it is sitting at 72f with 6 frozen water bottles slowly lowering it.

PH is now at 6.48, so the water may already be as saturated with CO2 as it can. I will still give it another hour and then PH it to 6.0.

Been on the hunt for banners. After the reservoir swap there is a chance for them to herm. I will keep looking, but so far I see nothing. Might be all good.

Lucky….. I’m wanting my buds to start taking off. It’s getting to that point but the pre flower and very very early flower are only exciting so long. Lol.
Need those cola missiles and long white hairs!

It will all show up soon. 😁

So far only 1 of mine has the good colas going and will probably be harvested first. The other 3 look like they will need 1-3 weeks longer for their harvest.

Flowering week 6 day 3:

The buds continue to fatten up, especially plant 1. Plant 3 buds are looking extra frosty now.

I also took some early trichome pics. Obviously nowhere near ready, but always good to practice. I might just do videos instead.

These are all plant 3. I wanted to see the trichome density on the fattest bud since it looked coated in white.

Will make a trichome video for each of the other plants in 12 hours or so when the lights come back on.

I have a straight DWC, what I wouldn't give fer a reservoir!!
Yeah, the external reservoir was a game changer! I could only handle doing 2 DWC grows before upgrading to RDWC. It is so convenient.

My next grow will be 5 individual RDWC systems consisting of two 7 gallon buckets each. Going to also put them on plant caddies so I can move/rotate the plants as needed. Always something to upgrade with each future grow, haha.

Flowering week 6 day 6:

Forgot to post these pics. Been a bit lazy lately. Maybe it is the new weed I've been smoking. Jet Fuel OG. Today is technically week 7 day 1.

Plants are all doing well. Plant 1 looks like it has about 2-3 weeks left until harvest. The others have at least 1-2 weeks more after that.

Flowering week 7 day 1:

During the night cycle plant 1 got too heavy and fell over onto the other plants. Not sure how long it was like that, but I got them all back up and threw in a trellis net to hold them in place. I was planning to add the trellis net anyways, but now I was rushed and didn't get the proper cola spacing I wanted. It is still good enough though.

Flowering week 7 day 2:

Trellis net held the plants up no problem for 2 night cycles now. The plants aren't showing any signs of stress, so I think they will be all good. I skipped my defoliation since I didn't want to add to their stress after adding the trellis net. I will give them a good trimming on Wednesday.

I decided to defoliate today instead of waiting another day. I will just give them an extra day of recovery before defoliating again.

Here are a few videos of plant 1's trichomes on different buds.

Flowering week 7 day 5:

Just watching the buds continue to fatten up. Many of the little buds on plant 1 are starting to merge together to form some nice colas. Trichomes still look the same as 2 days ago. Will get some new videos of plant 1 this weekend. Plant 3 is still looking super frosty so I will also get a video of those trichomes.

Got some trichome videos this morning. The video of Plant 2 was horrible and it's too far into the night cycle for me to interrupt it to get a better one, so no video for plant 2 at this time.
