This all started with a mystery autoflower in my 2024 outdoor plants (maybe a mixup with the seed order?)
An amazing plant, biggest buds Ive ever grown - great genetics.
It got stressed somehow and seeded my Goldengate Haze outdoors - from those I ended up with about 60 seeds (50% autoflower)
I started some of those seeds this last spring and grew an (autoflower) male - and seeded my outdoor Agent Orange plants.

Its my understanding that Agent Orange doesnt have any recessive auto genes - and so its unlikely any of these 3rd gen seeds will be autos - but Im a big fan of all the strains, so Im still looking foward to seeing what comes out.

Ive never tried "fresh" seeds before, always 1 year old or more, but these sprouted immediately (1 day) - and took off right away - lookin good for 5 days from start of germination.

Gonna be an interesting strain. What kind of light are you using

Ive got 2 tents @ (2x2x4) - With a vivosun VS1000 and a 1000w Aerolight with the fan in the middle.
I also have a 300w (1000w equivilent) Blurple - I think I might throw that on for flowering this time.

This is some of the mystery auto plant from spring 2024 that started everything.
Big, dense, sticky, fruity honkers

Getting ready for the next stage and trying to learn from last seasons tent problems. (Aphids and mites)
Since Im forced to reuse some of my dirt for these seedlings - Ive been working on a quarantine and treatment process that seems to work well.
Tried it on a small flowering clone I brought inside last summer.
20251116 101017

1 week complete soak in the Arber - Bioinsecticide (quarantine away from tent) before planting and then 2 more weeks of spraying/soaking the surface of the dirt in the tent.
20251116 100921

Works well on the pests and the plants dont seem to be bothered at all - and probably a foliar spray or two along the way before the buds develop - because mites love my low humidity.

Everybodies still alive - mostly lookin good.
I dont have room for all 8 so I was kinda hoping I might break 1 or 2 during repotting (happens sometimes) but no dice.
Maximum would probably be 5 at once - but some could still end up being male or crashing out at some point, so im not worried about space just yet.

All new (used) dirt from outside has been soaking in the bioinsecticide for the last week, I also dosed it with fish emulsion to give it a bit of life. And at the bottom of each transplant - 1/2 scoop Start pellets fertilizer.

1 week
20251117 130316

Most plants lookin real good - no sign of bugs or anything yet. Treating next weeks repot dirt as we speak.

1 slightly stunted since the begining thatll go next week when I repot.
ive had my eye on 2 or 3 from the start - classic female shape, squat and full - broad leaves.
And 1 or 2 others suspected of being male (although that could still end up being the case, even for the two prime shape plants I guess)
But when I repot - Ill probably keep 6 for another few weeks or until I start to run out of room, then whittle it down to 4(?) total for flower.
Ive tried 3 plants before - its a bit tight for a 2x2 tent, 2 per tent is probably safest.

2 weeks
20251124 130125

Repotted and cut 2 this week, down to 6.
Mostly lookin good - some minor leaf damage around.
Couple possible explanations - nute burn from the start pellets? (Its not all the plants and only only the oldest leaves)
Insufficient air flow - I had it low for the seedlings - Ive upped the fan speed already.
And my least favorite - some kind of mold problem from the used soil.
I have a mold treatment, I can spray them down tonight just to be safe - even if its not the actual problem.

But I think(hope) that it could be solved by just correcting the conditions. Little warmer, dryer, more air movement. Also havent fed anything yet aside from start pellets - just in case it was burnt.

Week 3
20251201 093259

20251201 093249

Ok - These things have been growing so fast that Ive been consistently a bit behind in repotting and fertilizers.
That and - my bioinsecticide was on back order, so I was a few days behind on treating my soil.

I normally use the Start fert. pellets under my seedlings and start my real feeding in the 3rd week. But, turns out the leaf damage I had been seeing was low magnesium and when I repotted I found the roots bordering on bound in the smaller pots. It certainly doesnt seem to have stunted anything, these 4 are huge and at only 4 weeks (Thats from start of germination - not just planting, crazy)
Feeding now with Grow fert + casting/guano once per week.
Final pots are 3-5 gallon, random mix of organic topsoils + coconut husk + perlite/vermiculite etc...All used last summer and treated for pests (as best I can)

4 weeks

20251208 082447

Of the 4 left - 2 have a good, classic female look to them - 1 has had a good fruity skunk smell to it from very early on.
And 1 is still struggling a bit - yellowish, but should improve with the feedings.

Im considering just tossing the other 3 and cloning out the ideal female - maybe even make some STS seeds from her(and still could)
But Ill probably wait and see how they turn out - most of them at least. Id have more patience if I wasnt so low on weed - Id prefer to flower both tents if possible, refill all my jars.

Also, decided today to start training.
I realized that (at this rate) I was only like another week from needing to cut the lights on this tent because I was running out of height - with the new pots they were almost halfway to the top.

Wrapped them up in some bonzai wire - Ill give them a few days and then finish the bend - tie the tops off to the pots edge.

1 more week until I cut the lights I think, probably 2 for the 2 plants I bent over last week.

The prime plants (best looking and early strong smelling) that Ive so far left intact - will get cloned tonight, or as soon as my soil is done being treated.

20251212 133504

I have some STS on order, Ill flower some of these clones at 24" or so and make some feminized seeds from them.

The other 2 that I bent over last week are taking to the new position - although theyre still a bit yellowish, I thought theyd have recovered from the lack of ferts by now because the others had (but i have some theories)

1. I repotted them in the largest pots - so more nutes ended up in the empty soil out of reach, until the roots extended. I gave them an extra dose.
2. The light seems brighter in the smaller tent - maybe too bright? I dont think so, Ive used it at 100% before with no problems (I cant measure) so i moved it up just a bit.
3. All of the above - the added stress of repotting + training + lack of ferts and lights? I think time will heal - although theyre gonna lose the lower leaves, but nbd.

Overall very happy - especially considering my previous failed hydroponic experiment. Hopefully this will be a solid harvest and new strain! (Thinkin on names for it now)

I'm just wondering how you knew that the male was auto flower?
I am in Nova Scotia and would love a try at those seeds.

He was in full flower week 5 - just as the agent orange females were developing thier first hairs. I think its 50% of the seeds from that batch only because the Golden Gate Haze had the recessive auto genes.
I have like 60 more seeds from the original cross - im gonna try to confirm next summer.

I also still have some of his pollen frozen from this summer - so I think if I use it on one from this 3rd generation - it could bring the auto back out?

So far - 2 of these plants look and smell very much like the agent orange (not surprising) - but the darker 2 have a more complex flavor, less sharp ammonia and more fruity skunk...

Since this is my last week before switching to 12/12 Ive been grabbing a few clones (probably shouldve started last week but...)

The original idea was to STS a branch on the prime female and get some feminised seeds directly from this plant - but its on backorder and Im worried about the tight timing.

I understand Im supposed to start spraying THIS week if Im going to cut the lights NEXT week - and If I push 12/12 another week they may end up being too tall (depends on the flowering stretch I guess)

20251214 110020

So, if these clones survive (fingers crossed) Ill grow couple out for a month and then spray one with the STS (when it finally arrives) - get my seeds that way.

Its not a perfect solution, both my tents will be at 12/12 soon (2 or 3 weeks max) So the clones will flower small and reveg - but theyll be flowered again small and dedicated to making seeds anyway, so nbd i guess.

So, from this batch of seeds there is a clear winner - this plant is looking amazing and stinkin up the tent already, before flower. The other plant in with her has the same look but not near the same smell. So I kind of bent her into the corner, to give the winner some room.
I took a few clones (little late maybe) I really hope they take so I can keep this pheno goin.

Week 5
20251215 120847

1 week since the bend for the other 2 plants. Theyve recovered from their whole ordeal, looking less yellow than before. I figure it bought me another 2-3 weeks before switching to 12/12 - which is perfect because thats where the clones are living for now.
20251215 140953

These 2 have the typical Agent Orange Look to them. One has the expected flavor and a decent stink to it - the other almost nothing (a little concerning) but Ill give it some more time. And if I need to make room for prime pheno clones Ill give her the boot.

Considering the heavy Sativa lineage of all parties involved (my guess is) Im probably lookin at another 10 weeks before harvest for tent A and maybe 13 for tent B.

So, finally caught a break here - STS showed up early.
20251217 151731

And after reading the instructions, turns out Im not actually late in starting the spray. I have read elsewhere youre supposed to start 1 week before flowering, but the kit says start the day of flowering.

So, being I just switched the lights last night, I think it may still be OK?
Taped off one lower branch (So i dont forget) - gave it a little spritz, Ill give it a good soak before lights out tonight - dont want to burn anything.

20251217 151815

It would be great if it worked out - just in case the clones dont take.

Although - my success rate with clones has been close to 100% in the past. So im pretty confident at least one or two will make it. And I should have plenty of spray left over to try again with them if I want.

I do have the other (much less impressive) female in this tent - but its genetics can only be improved by pollination by the prime female i suppose (if this STS spray works out - Ill find out in five weeks or so I guess)

Great posts, thanks for sharing.

I only have a breadseed garden goi g, and 4 small seedling, but heres a full moon coming up on snowy night, just two weeks after I found a seedling popping up in the cannabis plot.

Oooo...Big stretch

Always tough to guess where a plant is gonna end up after you cut the lights.
I left them about half the tent to grow but they are using it up quick.
Its only been a few days and Ive already moved up the light (almost) as far as I can.

I probably couldve guessed theyd need a good amount of room - lots of sativa genetics in there (Fingers crossed they dont do a 300% stretch)

20251221 091127

lights at about 16" now - if I rearrange the air filter, I can move it up a little further if need be.
And if she gets too close, I can tie off the branches and pull them away from the light later on.
Although Ive had foxtailed(burnt) buds before - and they were fine.

Well shit...
20251223 132907

So much for the whole feminized seed plan...Turns out this (and the other one in this tent) is a male.
Super surprising, mostly because of the super strong smell. Not sure what to do with this one now - or its clones.

I Guess I can still use its genetics - let it pollinate my other tent? Probably not, I have enough seeds already...

Probably toss them and start some green crack seeds in their place. Bummer.
