Is it REALLY necessary to add a 4-4-4 NPK ratio to your dry fertilizer?

I already have 4-6-2 and 3-9-4

Wondering if I can just transition from one to the other and skip the 4-4-4 that Dr Earth Recommends?

Thoughts?

Is it possible to study this stuff so we dont have to wonder? The 4-4-4 seems right. Are you changing because you have problems? Or just want to mind it a bit more?

I haven't planted anything yet but I just wanted to know.

Some places say you could skip the 444 fertilizer. I have been studying.

Meta AI seems to think I can skip using it except for the mint plants.

So that's reason enough to get some.

I'm growing mint and lavender and strawberry plants too so I'm thinking it will benefit to have a balanced NPK ratio for my plants after I use the Sure Start from EB Organics 4-6-2.

Not many plants that want a “balanced” fertilizer. A million opinions, but mine (when I’m in the pot stage) is ~ 3-1-2.

I run 4-4-4 and 4-6-3 through veg.
And than 4-6-3 and 3-9-4 through flower.
I guess you don't have to.
I think the idea is to not burn the plants when they are younger.
I have had good luck everything, so I will stick with it.
Each plant is different so it's all about experimenting too.
Good luck.

Your 4.6.2 & 3.9.4 are both flowering nutes really albeit the 4.6.2 is lacking in k

In veg you really want a higher n than p&k
You could get the 4.4.4 & use that for veg even if it’s not n high it would work
It wouldn’t be my choice I’d use a n high fert for veg however it would work

Yeah the 4-6-2 is my leftover sure start which has dormant microbes, it's a few years old and has lost potency but I like to use it the 1st month to help develop strong root system.

I see your point about the nitrogen.

I'm still going to add molasses for the microbes, Superthrive for trace nutrients and Purpinator to help Terpene profile and purple up my buds.

I also add organic matter, coffee grounds and tea grounds.

The soil already has worm castings too.

I will check my levels and see how it does.

I may still get something that's a little more nitrogen heavy like some liquid kelp, just to give it a higher boost of nitrogen.

But Dr. Earth's guide suggests using this:

They seem to have a different feeding schedule liquid vs dry.

Since I already have the 1-1-1 liquid and the 3-9-4 flower girl I could get the liquid nitro big 3-0-1 and then the 4-4-4 dry for my other plants too.

Ugh no not terminator as my friend calls it 🤣

We’ve a version called turpenator

I like weed that tastes like weed that stuff ugh no way I could write a book on how much I loathe the stuff

That's unfortunate.
Sorry you had that reaction.
Could be unrelated though.

I researched that product before I bought it though ☮️
