doing another res change, gonna add just bleach and sm-90, run for 8 hrs...then change to normal feeding before lights on...will decide then if im gonna disconnect that girl. checked roots in all the buckets. they are all white, except the areas right below the pails, which are brownish in areas. can i run lower res temps like 60-62 degrees from now on?

You are sharing the same water so if your girls are weak they would be showing some symptoms. I would be trying to help your girls absorb that bleach and renew a healthy environment.

any Recommendations? pythoff is the only thing I found for sale that is designed to kill pythium, and it is a 2.5% chlorine solution mixed with RO. adding 1tbsp per 80gal (2ppm) gallons isn’t even noticeable by smell, it’s not even the recommended dose for purify drinking water, but it kills pythium for pennies and is harmless to your plant and yourself unlike something like Physan20

that plant looks like its toast bro, I would yake her out of the system , maybe try to save her in some coco or a stand along DWC, but the longer she stays in there the better the chance she spreads the pythium

I use it. Or sometimes Multizyme.. Whatever I can get ahold of. I run great white, roots excel, and a zyme, and things are generally good if I dont cheap out on the GW and RE. They are expensive but I don't run H2O2 or bleach.. SM-90 or hydrocide..

You just have to find what works for you. :)

how much bleach do i run in 110 gals during normal feeding, as a preventative. can i run the sm-90 and multizyme together during normal feeding?

1ml per 10gal is a good general dose to keep things clean, so you could use 11ml for 110gal, no sure on the multizyme, but I dont believe its living, I know DD uses that as all as hydrofugicide

1ml per 10gal is safe, its slightly more than what comes out of the tap

1ml per 10gal, or 1tsp per50 gal for general prevention, If you have rot then you need to hit it with 1tbsp per80-100gal, once you rid it, then you can drop back to 1ml per 10gals

chlorine is effective, and cheap, and safe, thats why its used for drinking water, the only reason people switch to chloramine is because it doesnt gas off like chlorine

were you constant feeding directly on the rockwool? we found your problem, you have to put the drippers to the very edge of the bucket otherwise the rockwool stays way too wet.

how are the other plants holding up

Damn dude.. Thanks for posting that up. Thats the same thing easypleasie ran into. I bet if you pull that out its rootbound and rotting. :(

Dam sorry to see your loss...so the roots in the water didn't rot but the oversaturated medium in the top bucket did or both?

Looks like top bucket rot. Bottom is rotting as well but less indacating its a later infection?

Why didnt you use the netpots...Hardly any roots coming out the bottom of that bucket...

Always take the paper of the rockwool if burying it...Drippers in the hydroton...

I think what happens is the top buckets get packed with roots, in an enviorment that doesnt have a lot of oxygen, so the rot starts there, the roots in the bucket are in a different enviorment where pythium has a harder time taking hold because of all the oxygen, but it will eventually infect all the roots

Im really stoked on the no topfeed method, just getting my roots to exit the coco at the bottom and into the water, I think its going to make things more fool proof

Dizzle, that is exactly the way I see it as well.

Please let me know how the no top feed method works for you.

its working really good, IM going to still use the coco pots and just top feed them once a day or so until the roots start swimming then cut the topfeed. Im going to put the dripper directly into the coco and not on the sides, so all the roots grow out the bottom and the sides of the net pots can be free of root and water

I found out a new problem thou, what I thought was rot in my second room was not rot at all, its something called brown algae. Because I made one bag of hydroton stretch, I didnt fill the 10in net pots to the very top, so light was shining through the holes and into the tubs.

I took a sample of roots out and put them into a cup up water and stirred it up, all the brown slime came off the roots and the roots are completey white and firm, but covered in a slime

so I did some research and found out about this brown algae. It survives in very little light and doesnt really respond to root rot cures. The only cure I could find was physan 20 and UV light, so I turned my lights off and I actually had to flush my system with 1ml per 10gal of physan 20 for 2hours, drained, refilled and ran for 12hrs with water and sm-90 at 3ml per gal, drained that and refilled with low dose nutes.

I also picked up an UV sterilizer, and as an pump built in.
the plant growth really hasnt slowed but if left untreated it will eventually choke out your roots.

I have completely covered all the net pots in panda film so hopefully I can lick this brown algae shit. really crazy shit its almost like a clear gel and turns brown after a little while, the filter on my danner pump looks so nasty, but everything looks good so far and another lesson learned in the school of MPB hard knocks

on a good note, my 7th run room is incredible, I will post some pics soon, Im doing some leaf plucking tests, I plucked one plant at flip, and I will pluck 1 plants at days 8, and one plant at days 21

haha ooh and get this, if you add an enzyme, it will actually get 10x worse overnight, haha this I didnt know. when the enzyme breaks down dead matter it feeds the algae.
