I like the 400w MH for seedlings, cuttings, and general vegging. Perfect spectrum for initial growth.

I've ran 430w son agro hps bulbs (30% more blue spectrum) start to finnish (seed to harvey) they run great! I have 2 -430w hps set-ups w/ rated 430w ballasts and have 1 600w son-T-plus bulb (again extra blue spec.) set-up. The bulbs are Phillips and yep they work Tops! So to the OP I would say, yes to the 430 or better yet get a 600..imo
