I have a spare room that is 13"7' by 10"5' and was thinking 4 1000watt lights would be sufficient for the area given. The grow will be done using soil with 9 plants under each light totaling at 36 plants. This will be my second grow, the first only being a small 600watt grow, so only having little experience i'm turning to this forum for advice.
My main area of concern is which style of hood for the lights. I am debating between an open style wing hood vs a closed ventilated hood. i understand that the glass in a closed hood stops some of the light from reaching the plants but does keep cooler while the open hoods wouldn't block any light but will obviously produce more heat.
Which style hood would be best for my situation? I am leaning more toward the open style hood but was wondering if the yield gained from not having the glass blocking some light is worth the extra cost to ventilate the extra heat produced?
All responses and opinions are greatly appreciated!

Buy ventilated hoods just in case you cant control the temps, you can remove the glass and your going to need at least 18,00 btu's of a/c. Get the raptors or magnum xxxl. These will give you better coverage set 3 rows of 15 plant columns 3 side by side 5 deep you can go with just 3 hoods. Depending on strain you should pull @ least 3 to 6 lbs. Depending on your skill level. Prune, bend, scrog. Youll be good.

What type of climate are you in?

If you are trying to cool the hoods using 100F degree air then might as well skip the vented hoods and put the money you are saving toward your AC.
