Hi fam! A lot of this we just posted in another thread but it's super relevant here so copying and pasting! :)
The size of the bucket you use will really depend on how much material you plan on washing at once and whether you will be washing cured flower or fresh frozen. I've attached a screenshot from our blog article on
How Much Cannabis Do I Need To Make Bubble Hash breaking this down for your reference.
Deciding whether you want to wash cured flower or fresh frozen really depends on a multitude of things and what type of final product you're looking to achieve. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, if color and terepene preservation is what you're looking for, fresh frozen is the route to go but it's also harder to keep your temperatures consistent throughout your fresh frozen wash and may require a cold room and extra experience. Learning the difference between using both types of material will be key along your journey so check out our article on
Fresh Frozen or Dry Flowers For Bubble Hash here.
It's important to have quality bubble bags for washing but remember it's a misconception you need expensive bags to make a quality product!
There are, however, some key qualities you'll want to keep in mind when you're shopping for a good set of bubble wash bags...
One key bubble bag quality to look for is the filtration mesh quality. A lot of cheap bubble bags, especially found on Amazon, are cheaply and quickly made in China by factories that have no idea about the art of bubble washing. As a result, the quality of the mesh used is much lower quality. We've attached a picture here for your reference. As you can see, the filter on the left is ours - which is considered full mesh - while the filter on the right is from a competitor using the incorrect type of filtration material. Poor quality filter mesh will also stretch over time, making your microns (the size of your filter) inaccurate. For example, a 75 micron bag can stretch to be a 90 micron bag after pro-longed use.
As for the stitching, make sure your bubble bag seams are properly sewn and tight. Any additional fabric can collect trichomes that should otherwise be collected! You don't want any hash to get caught in the seams! What a waste!
