This topic being kicked around right now here. Stay 500 and under or go bigger? Can you make a buck at 500 ft?
Alaska's regs are final and license apps will be taken later this month. One such license category is cultivation. Two license types, big or small. Here in the panhandle, we are a rain forest, so mostly indoors. When initially proposed, the smaller license was less stringent in terms of "rules" and record keeping. However upon final passage, same rules for everybody.
The space will have to accommodate, clones, vegging and flowering, so maximizing the space is critical. Some stacking will need to take place, so ceiling height could be an issue. If they allow off site cloning later on, that would be a plus. But nothing yet.
Application fees have not been addressed as yet. The bigger license will obviously cost more, a lot more.
So what does your ideal 500 sq ft space look like?
