Hi,

I know there might be better drivers out there, but the following models are the cheapest given my circumstance (partially due to shipping and import tax):

Osram OTE 50/220-240/1A4 CS 18-36V 1400mA
Osram OTE 50/220-240/1A0 CS 27-54V 1050mA

I plan on running CXA3050/3070 cobs on Arctic 11 plus CPU coolers like SupraSPL recommends in his wonderful DIY post. As far as I can tell, these drivers are 88% efficient, can't find any info about power factor correction.

They would cost me roughly $11; most other drivers are double that amount in my country (importing from abroad = fees and sad smileys).

Is it worth paying more for a different driver? Which of the two drivers listed above should I go for ?

Thanks in advance

I think your link goes to a fancy-pants driver.

That 1400mA looks good for the money; PF is listed as 0.95 but small growers are not impacted by power factor. Efficiency is shown as 87% at full load at 230VAC.

The CXA3070 has a Vf of about 37.5 volts at 1400mA. The CXA3050 Vf would be 36.85, a bit more than the (presumed) constant current region of 18 to 36VDC. CXB3050 and CXB3070 both have Vf of 35.6 @ 1.4A so they might be a better choice. Or get the 1050mA model if the CXA series makes more economic sense and run at about 36W.

Edit: old post but I did learn Osram ECG = Electronic Control Gear
