After pollination switch back to 18-6 , you'll make the best seeds you ever had, and I can guarantee you if you been popping seeds from any of the bigger commercials guys you already grew seeds grown that way. However only use this method if growing just for seeds, because everything else will go to compost
This is a very small plant, for seeds only. It is outdoors 12 hrs a day and in a cupboard (with its male mate who spends days in the kitchen window as far as feasible from my flowering females. But once the male has blown all its wads, I’m just waiting this female, currently outdoors but artificially forced into flower with a 12/12 schedule. I just don’t know how to give the seeds the best odds for full maturity and germination rate. No buds needed or expected. Just an F2 of this strain.

Outside bugs, birds and weather can take em out. I would keep em inside.

I have one very small tent that is kept in veg. Flower is a manual process of moving flowering plants in and out of the tent and closet. Since I knew I would be trying to flower a male, I wanted to limit the exposure of the six other flowering plants I have, two autos (outside) and four photos (inside manual process).

All I've done with my auto's outdoors is let them get on with it. July is flower time, and August/September its finished, as for best for end result on seeds, I'd leave it outdoors all the time, only thing I do is make sure the plant is in full sun all day, and a bit of shelter from a brisk breeze at night, or if the wind happens to get up. I know you don't want to wait until September, but its a small price to pay for decent seeds, and we all know what happens when we try growing with rubbish seeds. 😉

These aren’t autos. I cannot “waste” (I hate putting it this way) one of my plant count for months and months for a male.

This little baby was completely covered in a papery brown covering that came right off. This may not be a viable seed, but it tells me (without a doubt) that I did actually pollenate AB108F. More to follow once mature.

AB108F is revegging and finishing seed development looking. Hopefully I have some seeds to send to @Grownsince95.

I’d like to introduce you to AB2__ Reg set of seeds. There are 55 in total. I’m going to see if 5 will germinate now while the others dry several days. Then, 25 will go to @Grownsince95 and I will keep the other 25. @Grownsince95 maybe you can tell me what they should be properly named for storage/record keeping?

Omg Amy I am beyond excited!!!! 😍

You are doing some seriously amazing gardening over there 👍

So those would be cataloged AB201-AB225

These F2 should be a fun pheno hunt. I will also eventually make F2 seeds from different parents, and we can compare the differences and even cross our generations. 👍

I didn't know this thread existed. Almost all the pics I've posted on here are a result of years of breding, pollin chucking, and having some grest luck. Sprinkle a couple duds, but it's been worth it.

"Fat guy in a small suit"
Here's my last seed run
This is one (an IBL) of 5 strains I've been working on longer than I care to admit.
The strain is fantastic, with a nutty/chocolate aroma/flavor.
This was pollinated at week 3.
I'll get more, and more into methods, genetics.....
Veg time from seed to flip 16 was days from sprout. The plant stretched about 5 feet, even after cutting the tops off, extreme super copping, as it was much too close to the light.
250 MH for veg, 250 HPS for flower.
I uppotted from an 8 oz cup, to this container the day before I flipped.

The final pic was 2 colas with my arm around them.
I've made no fems with this strain...

How do you store so many seeds? What’s the best way to store them so they can be used for a couple years if possible?
1st be sure to lable what is what.
I've had excellent success putting them in air tight bags (sometimes with rice, but haven't noticed a difference )
Each bag goes in a larger zip lock bag, and I'll store them in light proof, bubble wrapped envelopes.
I keep them in the crisper part of the fridge.
I guess the keys; Air proof, light proof, cold, well protected, and labeled.

Anyone who has contemplated pollinating their own flowers to create a hybrid and done some reading has come across intimidating statements like this: "you need a 1000 plants to breed correctly!" and "hobby breeders just chuck pollen and hope for the best"...while there's tons of truth to those statements, I think a lot of learning can be accomplished with much fewer plants. Even if its just finding some great moms along the way, it will be an opportunity to go step by step through the process together with some help from all of the experienced breeders here on the farm!

Anyone who says you need 1000 plants is talking about commercial breeding, because with 100 plants your odds of finding a "unicorn" are an order of magnitude less #profitability 😅
But you've got a great point - amazing phenotypes can emerge from a lucky cross of just two plants. Many of the very best vegetable varieties - many with similar reproductive strategies (corn, beets and spinach, for example) - were developed by market- and home-gardeners. Odss may be better than the lottery lol

Go for it folks! But keep your expectations in check 😐

My last seed run on one of my IBL lines. Pollinated at week 3, grown in 1/4 gal container under a 250 hps.
I had to cut off the tops of the colas, as they began hitting the light.
I keep far more sucer branches when breeding.
The weight wouldn't have been accurate, but I'm very happy with this strain.
